ORDINANCE 2011-01
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
AMENDING SECTION 2.13(A) OF THE GILROY CITY CODE
REVISING THE START TIME OF REGULAR MEETINGS OF THE
CITY COUNCIL TO 6:00 PM
WHEREAS, Section 408 of the Gilroy City Charter requires that the Council provide the
time, place and manner of its meetings by ordinance, which ordinance is codified in the Gilroy
City Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to change the start time of Council meetings from
7:00 p.m. to an earlier time to allow time for full discussion of matters on the Council agendas;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a duly noticed public meeting on December 6,2010,
regarding this proposed amendment to the Gilroy City Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I
Section 2. 13 (a) of the Gilroy City Code is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 2.13. Regular Meetings
(a) Time. Regular meetings of the city council shall be held on
the first and third Mondays of each month at 6:00 p.m. Whenever
the day fixed for any regular meeting of the council falls upon a
day designated by law as a legal or national holiday, such meeting
shall be held at the same hour on the next succeeding day not a
holiday. If said succeeding Monday is also a legal or national
holiday, the council meeting shall be held on the next weekday not
a holiday.
SECTION II
All other subsections of Section 2.13 shall remain unchanged.
SECTION III
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days from and after its
passage and adoption.
