RESOLUTION
OF
AWARD OF CONTRACT.
\~S, The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gilroy did, in open
session on the 25th day of February 1924, publicly open, examine and declare
all sealed proposals or bids for doing the following work in said City, to-wit:
Furnishing and installing cast iron water pipe and fittings; bronze
iron body valves; :i!'ire Hydrants and fittings; I~eptune water meters;
Concrete meter boxes; Service connections; service pipe; and the
removal of old hydrants and water pipes; all in accordance with
plans and specifications for doing said work as prep:1red by Chas.
E. Sloan, City Engineer, and heretofore adopted by said Common
Council as the plans and specifications for work and hereby re-
ferred to for further particulars: and,
WHEREAS, said Mayor and Common Council did, after examining uSd sealed
proposals or bids, submit same to the City Engineer for Computation, and,
WHERE.A.S, said City Engineer bas, after computing said sealed proposals
or bids, submitted to the said Council the results of said computation, as
follows:

BE IT RESOLVED; by the Mayor and Conmon Cpunoil of the City of Gilroy,
in the County of Santa Clara, State of California, as follows: that,
Whereas, all those oertain streets, avenues, lanes and roads delineated
and designated as such on that certain map entitled, "Offioial Map of the City
of Gilroy" as surveyed for the partition of the 'Banoho Las Animas', April
1866, by Herrmann Bros., a.nd adopted by the Mayor a.nd Conmon ommoil of the

AND DATUM PLANE.

BE IT BlSOLVED b.1 the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gilroy,
in the County of santa Cla.ra, State of California, as follows:
That the official datum plane of said city shall be and is hereby es-
tablished at that certain plane one hundred ninety-six and forty-six hundred-
ths (196.46) feet below the top~ that certain brass cap set in a concrete
monument located in the sidewalk in the west side of Monterey Street one hundred
fifty-four (154) feet south of the south line of Third Street and six and two-
tenths (6.1.) feet east of the _st line of Monterey Street, in said City of
Gilroy. The brass cap is two (2) inches in diSlleter, set flush with the top of
the sidewalk and marked "B.Y.City of Gilroy El. 196.46".
That said brass plate, in said ooncrete monument, is hereby established as
the offioial "bench mark" of said city of which said official datum plane of said
ci ty is fixed as aforesaid, and all elevations for street grades in said 01 ty shall
henceforth be established in feet above said official datum plane of said city;
Said datum plane is also one hundred ninty three ana sixty nine hundredths
(193.69) feet below a brass plate set in the top of a concrete monument looated
nine aDd three tenths (f. 30 ) feet west of the east line of Monterey Street and
seven and one tenth (7.10) feet south of the north line of Sixth Street in said
City of :e1lroy. The last mentioned montlJDent is set flush wi th the top of the skle-
walk and oontains a brass plate two inohes in diameter, marked :a.M.City of Gilroy,

lanes as indicated by said plans and specifications;
That concrete oatchbasins be constructed at various places
in said streets and of various sizes and uimensions and in
the manner indicated by said plans and specifications;
That vitrified iron stone storm sewer pipe, concrete oatch-
basins and brick manholes be constructed in said streets
at ~~rious locations, of the sizes and dimensions and in
the armer indioated by sc,id plans and specificat ions;
Exoepting, however, from the above described work such portion or
portions of the concrete curbs, concrete gutters, concrete sidewalks and pave-
!!lent above desoribed as are already constructed to line and official grade. and
excepting also from the above described work any and all portions thereof which
are described more than once or repeated because of descriptions re-orossing
streets at interseotions, it being the intention to describe only one improve-
ment at such street crossing; and, eexcepting also, from all of the above de-
scribed work such portion or portions as are required by law to be kept in
order or repair by any person or Company having railroad tracks thereon;
The plans and. speoifioa.tions above mentioned and referred to are said
plans and specifications ordered to be prepared as aforesaid.
