The regular monthly meeting of the Common Counoil was called to order by His Honor Mayor Jas. Princevalle. Present Councilmen Chas. B. Pierce, E. Martin Johnson, C. E. Fredrickson, Jerome Chappell, Gerald Becker, Elmer J. Ches- bro; Absent Councilmen, Kone. The minutes of Kov. 7th and Bov. 21st were read and ordered approved. Reports presented by License and Tax Collector, Police Jud- ge, City Clerk and Water Collector. and by motion of Fredrick- son, seoonded and carried, it was ordered that said reports be acoepted and ordered filed. Dr. Gordon of Saoramento appeared before the Counoil in the matter of meat inspeotion, likewise Mr. Ball relative to the inspeotion of milk. The Fire Department made requisition for 400 feet of 2 1/2w fire hose. The matter of' purchase of fire hose was left with the Fire Department Committee with power to seleot and purohase 400 feet or hose. Motion by Fredrickson, seconded by Chappell and carried: That the Dodge and Ford oommercial maohines and the Fordson traotor be oovered bt acoident insurance.' l:\..- Fire Chief Lawreoe Osborn made report relative to f'ire alarms during the month of BOT ember Motion by E. Martin JOhnson, seconded by Jerome Chappell aDd oarried that the following supplies be purchased for the Fire Department. 10 rubber ooats, one siamese oonnection, 2 1/2 to ,----' ,.... qqry -}, /' t '__,i) ...",.....4 :" 1 1/2 and two nozzles, 1 1/2 to 1/2. Motion by Chas. H. pieroe seoonded by Gerald Hecker that the following Resolution be adopted: WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gil- roy did on the 7th day of lovember, 1927, pass a Resolution whereby it was resolved that the City Surveyor and Engineer be instructed to f'urnish to the Common Council complete plans and specifications for storm sewers for the entire city, and WHEREAS subsequent thereto and on the 21st day of Novem- ber, 1927, the said Mayor and Common Council did pass a reso- lution whereby it was Resolved that the City Engineer be and he is hereby instruoted to prepare plans and specifications for paving with conorete paving the following streets: Eigleberry Street from the South line of Sixth street to the South side of' First street, Sixth Street f'rom the East side of Eigleberry Street to the West line of Monterey street, ~nd f'rom the East line of Mon- terey street to the Southern Pacific RailToad traCks, Fifth street from ~he West line of Monterey street to the East line of Carmel street, Martin Street from the East line of Monterey Street to the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks, Lewis Street from the East line of Monterey Street to the West line of Forest street, Fourth Street from the West line of Monterey Street to the East line of Eigleberry street, Seoond Street from the West line of Monterey Street to the East line of Eigleberry street, For a storm sewer to properly drain said streets proposed to be paved. AID WHEREAS there is a confliot between the reolution pass- ed on the 7th day of' Xovember, 1927, and the resolution passed on the 21st day of November, 1927, as to the extent of the . storm sewer, and WHEREAS there is inoertainty in the resolution passed 10- vember 21st, 1927, as to the class of' paving f'or which speoi- fioations are to be prepared, in so far that said resolution does not show the kind of' conorete paving with which said ~t)q Jf_... J.":,,J C_i'. streets are to be pavedcwhether Asphaltio Conorete or oon- /~ , . orete composed of sand, rock, gravel.and some brand of' Port- land Cement, and WHEREAS the tax payers whose property is liable to be as- sessed for street work should have a voice in the select- ,. ~~III'" 1''-'''' ion of the kind of paving with which the streets f'or which they must pay will be paved. lOW THEREFORE, Be it Resolved that the Resolution pass- ed by the Mayor and Common Counoil on the 7th day of Bovem- ber, 1927, and the Resolution passed by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gilroy on the 21st day of Bovember, 1927, be repealed: The above was amended by motion of' E. The Vote f'or the adoption of the original Resolution as hereinbef'ore set forth was as follows: Ayes, Counoilmen Chas. Pierce, C. E. Fredrickson, Gerald Hecker; Mayor Jas. Princevalle; Hoes, Councilmen E. Martin Johnson, Jerome Chappell, Elmer J. Chesbro; Absent Councilmen, Rone; Show- ing that the Resolution was regularly passed and adopted. By motion of Chas. H. Pierce, seconded by Gerald Becker the following Resolution was adopted: WHEREAS Certain residents of the City of Gilroy and own- ers of property fronting on Eigleberry street and on Fifth Street in the city of Gilroy bave heretof'ore filed with the Clerk of the City of Gilroy, a petition requesting the Mayor and Common Council of the City of' Gilroy to cause certain streets in said petition named to be paved, and whereas no ~ type of paving is named in said petition, and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Oouncil of the City of Gilroy believe that those who are to pay for the paving of suoh streets shOUld have an opportunity to express their op- inion as to the kind of paving to be used.
