April 4th 1932.
The regular monthly meeting of the CO~uon Council was
called to order by His Honor ~~yor James Princevalle.
Present: Councilman Fredrickson, Easton, Rush, Lawton,
Absent : Councilman Boock and Heck.
The minutes of meetings of 1~rch 7th, 1~rch lOth and March
28th were read and ordered approved.
Dr. L. F. Vaughn presented his resignation as Health
Officer and IHlk Inspector.
Motion by Fredrickson, seconded by Lawton and carried;
that said resignation be accepted.
The Mayor appointed Dr. Elmer J. Chesbro as Health Officer.
Llotion by Fredrickson, seconded by Lawton and carried
that peTIllit for use of certain streets for parades be ordered
granted.
Matter of appointment of a T,.1ilk Inspector was laid over.
The regular monthly and quarterly reports were presented
and by motion of Fredrickson, seconded by Lawton ordered
accepted and placed on file.
By motion of :B'redri c]\;5 on, seconded by Easton Ordinance No.382
was passed and adopted after having been read and re-read by
title as follows :-

RESOLUTION OVERRULING PROTESTS TO ASSESSMENTS AND CONFIRM-
ING ASSESSMENT AND WORK PERFORWiliD.
WHEREAS, the assessment for street work done under that cer-
tain contract dated the 23rd day of October, 1931, between
the Union Paving Company, a corporation, the party of the first
part, and WALTER S. WHITE, as Superintendent of Sctreets of the
City of Gilroy, the party of' the second part, fol" the doing of
all street work ment ioned and descJ:'ibed in Resolution of Inten-
tion No. 12-1931, passed and adopted by the Mayor a.nd Cormnon
Council of the City of Gilroy, OIl the 7th day of August, 1931,
and now on file in the office of the Clerk of said City, to whlc
Resolution of Intention reference is hereby made for a descrip-
tion of said work, was filed in the office of the Clerk of said
City of Gilroy, on the 17th day of March, 1932; and,
WHEREAS, the sa.id Clerk of the City of Gilroy did thereafter
fix Monday, the 4th day of April, 1932, at the hour of 8 o'clock
P. M. of said day at the meeting place of the Ma.yol.... and Common
Cou.ncil of the Ci'ty of Gilroy, in the Counc il Chamber in the City
1ffill in said City of Gilroy, as the time and place for hearing
on said assessment as required by law, and as the time and place
for making written objections thereto, as provided flor by the
Improvement Act of 1911; and,
WHEREAS, notice of the filing of said assessment and of the

time and place fixed for the hearing thereon was duly given by
posting and publishing as required by law, as appears from the
affidavits of E. F. Rogers, City Clerk, and of Amy Alexander,

principal Clerk of the printer and publisher of the Gilroy Evenln
Dispatch, which said affidavits are now on file in the office of
the Clerk of said City of Gilroy; and,

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Council of said City of Gil-

roy did proceed to hear and consider the protests and objections
and after due hearing and consideration of the same;
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the Mayor' and Common Coun-
cil of the City of Gilroy th9-t all p:rmtests and objections be,
and the same are hereby overruled, and the M.yor. and Common Coun-
cil does hereby determine that the work pel'formed under said
Resolution of Intention No. 12-1931 was perfol'med according to
the plans and specifioations and in a good and substantial manner
and said Ma~or and Common Council does hereby approve and oon-
firm said work and all acts and determinations of the Superintend
ent of Streets in relation thereto; and,
Be if Further Resolved by the Mayor and Common Council of
the City of Gilroy that the assessment herein mentioned for
street w~ k done under said Resolution of Intention No. 12-1931
hereinbefore referred to, together with the diagram attached
thereto, be, and the same are hereby approved and confirmed, and
the Superintendent of Streets of said City of Gilroy is hereby
directed to attach a warrant thereto and deliver the Same to the
contractor as required by law.

The regular monthly bills were then read and by motion of
Fredrickson, seconded by Lawton allowed and warrants ordered dravm.
Amount of warrants allowed ~~5712. 88 on the General Fund.
1,=otion by :Fredrickson, seconded by Rush and carried: that
the City Engineer be instructed to draw plans for the resurfacing
of Monterey Street and subrni t to the Eighway Commi ss ion.
