Gilroy, Calif., April 2, 1934.
The regular monthly meeting of the Common Council was called to
order by His Honor Mayor Elmer J. Chesbro.
Present Councilmen Easton, Rush, Boock, Heck, Milias, Wentz;
Absent Councilmen, None.
The minutes of meetings of March 5th, March 26th, and March
30th were read and ordered approved.
The regular monthly reports were presented and by motion of Rush
seconded by Easton and carried prdered accepted and placed on file.
The regular monthly bills were presented and by motion of Milias
seconded by Boock and carried ordered allowed and warrants ordered drawn
Amount of warran~s ordered drawn, $ 3452.16 on the General
Fund.
Motion by Milias seconded by Rush and carried that resolution per-
taining to election be passed and adopted, as follows:

'llhe polls will be open at six o'olock, A. M. of the day
of election and remain open until seven o'olock. P. M. of the
same day when the polls will be closed, except as provideG
in Section 1164 of the Political Code of the State of Ca1i-
forma.
In all other aspeots the said election will be held
1n accordance with the general election laws of the state of
California.
The Clerk of the C1ty of Gilroy will cause the neces-
sary Proolamation to be published.

On motion of Councilman Wentz, seconded by Councilman George C.
Milias, Jr. that Ordinance Number 40l calling a Special election on
the question of replacing the present steel pipe carryigg water to
the City of Gilroy with cast iron pipe line, be passed and adopted
after having been read and re-read by title as follows:
Section 1. That a Special Election in and for the City of
Gilroy, County of santa Clara, State of California, be and the
same is hereby called to be held in said City of Gilroy on the
7th day of May, 1934 , for the purpose of submitting, and at which
election there will be submitte to the qualified voters of said
City of Gilroy, the proposition of incurring a Municipal indebt-
edness of $ 29,000.00, and of issuing the bonds of said City of
in said amount for the object and purposes of raising money to be
expended in the acqui$ition, construction and completion of a main
east iron pipe line to replace the present steel pipe line carryin~
water to t~e City of Gilroy,

adopted after having been read and re-read by title as follows:-
Defining transient merchants and temporary stores, providing
for the regulation of transient merchants merchants, providing for
the issuance of permit for transient merchants, and providihg for a
fee to be paid therefor, and for the revoc tion of said permit and
providing the penalty for the violation of the Ordinance.

An Ordinance fixing and determining the compensation of
the officers of t~e City of Gilroy pursuant to the provisions of
Section 48 of the Charter of said City, amending Section 81 of
Article three of Chapter three of the Municipal code of the City
of Gilroy and repealing all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances
in conflict herewith.

and re-read by title as follows:-
An Ordinance prohibiting the maintenance of funeral estab-
lishments within the caity of Gilroy, excepting within a certain
zone specifically desribed and set forth in this Ordinance and
imposing penalties for the violation of the provisions of said
Ordiance.
