The regular meeting ot the Common Council is calle,d,to order by
His Honor Mayor S.D.Heck.
Present Councilmen George Milias,Jr.,J.H.Rush,Nat Heiner,George
Mason.

Absent Councilmen None.
Minutes of the meetings of October 4th and October 15th are read
and approved.
Rev.Justin Follette addresses the Council relative to the Com-
munity Thanksgiving Services to be held under the auspicies of

the looal churches in the Jordan School auditorium Thanksgiving
Day and invites the Mayor and Common Council to attend.
Motion by Councilman Heiner,seconded by Councilman Rush and
carried that the Mayor be authorized to issue a proclamation
calling the people of the community to the special Thanksgiving
services.
Ordinance No. 424 is presented and read:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 32 OF ARTICLE V OF ORDINANCE
NUMBEll ~~$,AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NUMBER 357,RELATING TO THE
REGULATION OF TRAFFIC, THE USE AND CARE OF VEHICLES AND PRE~
SCRIBING A PARKING TIME LIMIT FOR VEHICLES UPON CERTAIN PUBLIC
STREETS OF THE CITY OF GILROY AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THE
PROVISIONS HEREOF.

Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Rush and
carried that the property of Mr. Norman Bowman,as set forth in the
proposed deed,be purchased for the sum of $300.00 plus $17.50 for
title insurance and the City Clerk i8 authorized to issue warrants
for these amounts upon satisfactory showing to the City Attorney
that the title is correct.

Councilman Heiner reads the report of Fire Marshal Raymond
Shields said report covering inspections,etc.made during the
month of October.
Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Heiner and
carried that Raymond Shields be allowed $10.00 expense money to
attend the Fire Prevention School to be Aeld in San Francisco.
The Clerk is instructed to write a letter to Howson Brothers,

Contractors,request1ng that they appear before a special meeting
of the Common Council to be held Monday,November 8,1937,8 P.M.
Motion by Councilman Rush,seconded by Councilman Milias and
carried that bills as presented be allowed and warrants order~d
drawn on the Treasurer.
Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Heiner and
carried that the reports of City officers be _ccepted and placed
on file.
