The regular meeting of the Common Council is called to order by
His Honor Mayor S.D.Heck.
Present Councilmen George Milias,Jr.,Jack nogers,J.H.Rush,George
Mason,George A.Martin,Nat Heiner.
Absent:Councilmen None.
Minutes of the regular meeting of November 1st and special meet-
ings of November 8th and November 17th are read and approved.
Motion by Councilman Rush,seconded by Councilman Martin and
carried that the City adopt the County wage scale as of November
8,1937.

Wages of all laborers shall be seventy five (.75p) per
hour for straight time work and on Saturday morning,
except as otherwise provided. Laborers handling air or
electric tools weighing fifty (50) pounds or more
including vibrators over two and one half (2}) inches
shaft dirumeter, shall be paid ninety cents (.90~) per
hour. Workers with air or electric spaders shall receive
also ninety cents (.90i) per ttour. No laborers shall be
paid for at a less rate than seventy five cents (.75p)
per hour.

Ordinary overtime, one and one half times above rate;
Legal holidayS.. Saturdays.. Sundays, where crafts work a
five day week, and/or where schedule of crafts so provide,
overtime shall be paid at the rate of double ti~me, except
for watchmen, guards, and flagmen.
Any classification omitted herefrom, shall be paid not less
than the minimLrrn rate set forth above.

RESOLUTION CREATING A FUND TO BE KNOWN AND DESIGNATED
AS ttALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL LICENSE FEE FlTND, It PRO-
VIDING FOR MONEYS TO BE PLACED IN SAID ~JND AND FOR
THE EXPENDITURE OF SUCH MONEYS.
WHEREAS, Section 37 of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act
(Statutes 1935, page 1123, as amended) provides for the allocation
to the cities in the state of a proportion of certain fees collect-
ed in the enforcement of such act; and
VflIEREAS, certain moneys have been delivered to the City of
Gilroy under and pursuant to the provisions of said act; now there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED; that there is hereby created a fund to be known
and designated as the tlAlcoholic Beverage Control License Fee Fund;tl
and b'e it
~JRTHER RESOLVED: That all moneys allocated to the City of
Gilroy by the State of California pursuant to Section 37 of the
Alcoholic Beverage Control Act shall be placed in said fund; and
be it
FLffiTEER RESOLVED: T~~t all moneys placed in said fund shall be
expended and disbursed therefrom solely and exclusively for the
purpose of the enforcement of the provisions of said act, and to
inform against and diligently prosecute all persons who have offen-
ded against the provisions of said act.

Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Rogers and
carried that any regular salaried city employee be allowed two
weeks sick leave during anyone calender year.
Motion by Councilman Rush,seconded by Councilman ~msan and carried
that a~ salaried city employes must present a written request for
their annual vacation at the council meeting preceeding the time they
expect to leavejthe request stating the date they expect to leave and

Motion by Councilman Rush,seconded by Councilman Heiner and
carried that the balance of the judgment of lmr.Chas.Sloan-
$5000.00 plus interest- be paid.
Dr.C.C.Donahue appears before the Council to discuss the traffic
situation in the alley from 4th Street to 5th Street,between
Eigleberry and Monterey Streets.
Motion by Councilman Rush,seconded by Councilman Rogers and
oarried that the Cit~ purchase bound volumes of the Gilroy
Advocate for $200.00,said volumes to be placed in the Gilroy
Public Library.
Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Rush and
carried that a new Class 900 Electrio Addressograph be purchased
for $168.50,plus sales $ax,less $15.00 allowance on the old
machine.
Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Mason and

Sewer Farm each be given/new five ypar lease; dating from Nov-
ember 1,1937.
The Cle%k is instructed to notiry seven major oil companies
that bids for furnishing the City with gasoline for the vpar 1938
will be opened MondaY,Janu87Y 3,1938 at 8 o'clock P.M.
Motion by Councilman Heiner,seconded by Councilman Mason and
carried that bills as presented be allowed and warrants ordered
drawn on the Treasurer.
