The reg~lar monthly meeting of the COrillJOn Council is called to
order by His Honor Mayor S.D.Heck.

Absent-Councilmen: None.

the City accept the proposition presented by the Works Progress
Adminis trat ion-an expenditure of $29,000. for labor and material
to repair the Uvas Levee, the Ci ty to expend approximately ;~4, 000.

Safety Committee of the Chamber of COIDJerCe,as follows: 1 hour
parking on Monterey Street from Seventh street to I.O.O.F.Avenuej
2 hour parking limit on Lewis street;fromMonterey street to the

carried that STOP signs be placed at all intersections on Fifth
street :from I,:ontere:'f street to the ':/heele1' Hospital.
Ilr.J.D.Chappell appears before the Council aG a reJresentative of

be adopted by the ,::::ouncil. The Llayor refers this matter to the
Ord inance Conmi ttee for action.

be uncollectable.

carried ttat a new water line of four inch cast iron pipe be placed
in the alley between Lonterey street and :Gigleberry street from
Sixth street to Seventh street.

carried that the reports of t~e City officers be accepted as read
and placed on file.

BE IT RESOLVED that thel'e is hereby created a fund to be
knovm as the "Special in Lieu Auto Tax Fund;"
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all moneys allocated to and re-
ceived by the City of Gilroy, pursuant to the laws of the State of
California, State Motor Vehicle licensee fee funds, be placed in
said f~md and that the same be expended and disbursed solely and
exclusively for the following uses, to wit:-
a. Purchase and maintenance of police motorcycles and cars
used principally for traffic control work,
b. Salaries of officers used principally for traffic control,
c. Traffic signals, warning siGns, painting of traffic lanes,
lighting costs for bridges, highways, tunnels, et c.,
d. Construction of safety signs and zones,
e. Traffic safety surveys, studj.es and similar Vlork,
f. Such portion of the compensation of police officers as
may be properl'J- chargeable against sa:i.d fund in proportion to their
time used in traffic control work.
