The regular monthly meeting of the Common Council is called to
order by His Honor Mayor S.D.Reck.
Present: Councilmen: George Milias,Jr.,Jack Rogers,J.H.Rus~,George
Mason,Nat Heiner. Absent:Councilman George A.Martin.
Minutes of the meetings of March 7th and March 18th are read,errors
noted and eorrections made.
Mrs.L..J.Lavers and W~s.W.C.Colt,representing the Gilroy Womens Civic
Club appear before the Council to discuss parks for the City,partic-
ularly the acquiring of a 5 acre tract in the northwest section of the
City left by the late Henry Miller to be used as a hospital site. By
unanimous consent the Mayo~ is empowered to appoint a conu~~ttee to
discuss the project.
Councilman Heiner reports progress ~n a new Plumbing Ordinance.
Motion by Councilman Rush,seconded by Councilman Mason and carried
the concrete box culvert constructed on Leavesley Road be accepted.
A request from the Masons and Odd Fellows Cemetery Association for
a refund on water paid for dur ing the past year is referred to the
city Water Collector for a report.
Motion by Councilman Heiner,seconded by Councilman Rogers that

BE IT RESOLVED that there is hereby created a fund to be

BE IT FURTHi;R RESOLVED tba t all moneys recelved by the City
of Gilroy, as designated under Section 770 of the Vehicle Code
(Chapter 780 of the Statutes of 1937), be placed in said fund and
that the same be expended and disbursed solely and exclusively for
the followine uses, t~ wit:-
a. Purchase of traffic siGns, signals and other traffic con-
trol devices,
b. For the maintenance or construction.of streets, bridges
and culverts.

Resolution No.4 by the City Planning Commission is presented aDd
read.
Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Rogers that
RESOLUTION NO. 94 be adopted:

WHEREAS the City Planning Commission of the City or Giiroy
has reported, found and recommended that a certain district of
said City be changed rrom Zone "A" to Zone "B" which is bounded
and described as follows, to wit:-
Beginning at the intersection of the alley between
Rosanna and Church Streets with the northerly side or Sec-
ond Street, thence northerly to the southerly boundary of
liB" district, southerly of first streetl thence rollowing
said liB" district westerly to the alley between Rosanna and
Hanna Streets, thence southerly to the northerly side of
Second Street, thence following the northerly side of Sec-
ond Street to the place or beginning.
Reference is hereby had to the map and general zoning ord-
inance now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City
of Gilroy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a public hearing will be
had on Wednesday, the ~ day ofAnrl1 ,1938 at the hour of 8:00
o'clock P.M. of said day in the Council Chambers of the Common
Council of said City in the City Hall of said City of Gilroy, when
and where any person interested may protest and/or object to such
change.

BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Gilroy convey to IGNAZIO
FILICE and ANGELINA FILICE, his wife, as joint tenants, the
~ollowing described real property, to wit:

All that certain real property situate in the City of
Gilroy, County of Santa Clara, State of California,
described as follows:
PORTION OF LOT 2, in Block 2" North Range 2 East, as shown
upon Map No.6, accompanying Report of the Commissioners
in Henry Miller et al, Plaintiffs vs. Massey Thomas" et al,
Defendants, in the Superior Court of the State of California
in and for the County o~ Santa Clara, Case Number 5536,
and more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point on the Southwesterly line of Alexander
Street" distant Northwesterly t~ereon 275 feet from its
intersection vdth the Northwesterly line of Martin Street,
as said Streets are shown upon the Map above referred to;
running thence Northwesterly along the Southwesterly line
of Alexander Street, 50 feet to the most Northerly corner

Passed, approved and adopted this 4th day of April, 1938, at
a regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Gilroy.
