Motion by Councilman Heiner,seconded by Councilman Rogers and carried unanimously that the sum of $9,105.81 be transferred from the the Water Fund to the General Fund. r~:; t:t<j Q Motion by Councilman Heiner,seconded by Councilman Mason that RESOLUTION NO.98 be adopted: !!.E~OLUTIQ!I NQ--iiL RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY APPROVING PROJECT RELATING TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN ARMORY BUILDING. The Common Council of the City of Gilroy hereby resolves as follows: VffiEREAS, the City of Gilroy, a municipal corporation is duly organized and existing under and Oy virtue of the laws of the State of California, in the County of Santa Clara, State of California, is in need of a new Armory Building, at a cost or expense of appro- ximately Sixty-nine Thousand Two Hundred Eighty-three and 30/100 ($69,283.30) Dollars, and WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy has applied to the Federal Emer- gency Administration of Public Works of the United States of Amer- ica for a grant of Thirty-one Th6usand One Hundred Seventy-seven and 49/100 ($31.177.49) Dollars, being forty-five (45%) per cent of the cost of said armory building, and WHEREAS, the Government has requested that the City Council by resolution set up a construction account in connection therewith, and make an appropriation for said improvements; NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved that the Common Council of the City of Gilroy hereby ratify and approve the project relating to the construction of a new armory building, in the said City of Gilroy, and BE IT FURTHER R~SOLVED that a construction account to be called the Armory Building Account be set up with the American Trust Co~ 453 mpany, Gilroy Branch, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to set up such account with said bank, and that the funds so deposited shall be used only for the payment of claims connected with said project, and evidenced by warrants drawn against same by the proper off!cers of the City of Gilroy. That the sum of Nine Thousand One Hundred Five and 8l/100 ($9,105.81) Dollars is hereby set aside for said project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said American Trust Company is hereby instructed andalthorized to furnish the Federal Govern- ment of the United States appropriate evidence showing that such funds are available for said project. The Clerk is directed to write a letter to 1~.Sam Newton asking that . he remove the farm machinery ,and other equipment that is his property, from Railroad street between Sixth street and Old Gilroy Street. Councilman Hogers reports on discussions in regard to a sewer connection for the .John Roffinella home on North Chestnut streetjaiso on lack of sewer facilities on property at the southwest corner of of 8th and Monterey streets.
