The regular monthly meeting of the Common Council is oalled to
order by His Honor Mayor S.D.Heck.
Present:Counoi1men George C.Milias,Jr.,Jaok Rogers ,George A.Martin,
George M.Mason,Nat Heiner.
Absent:Councilman James Battersby.
Minutes of August lst,August 4th,August l5th,August 25th,September
5th,6th,7th,8th,9th and 10th are read and approved.
Mr..J.W.Rich appears before the Council to request penn1ss1on to
erect a tent at the corner of 6th & E1gleberry Streets for the
purpose ot holding eVan~11stic meetings tor a period of ten weeks.

Motio~ By Councilman Milias,seconded. by Councilman Rogers and
carried unanimously that a permit be granted to Mr.rr.W.Rich to
erect a tent at the corner of 6th & Eigleberry streets for the
purpose of holding evangelistic meetings for a period of ten weeks.
Mr.E.Mayo,Route 2,Box 48,Gilroy,agent for a roof paint appears
before the Council to explain the the uses of the product he represents..
Reports of the Health Officer and the Poundmaster are read and
ordered placed on file.
A petition,wit~ 15 signatures,is read requesting that an alley be
opened from ~eventh street to Eight street between Eigleberry street
and Church street.
The petition is referred to the City A~torney for investigation.
A petition,with 8 signatures,is read requesting that a main sewer
line be established on 10th Street to serve homes located on the
south side of 10th street.
The Cler k is ins tructed to file this sewer extension petition.
Councilman Heiner disousses the request ot r~..John Lannin,San .Jose,
for a building permit to erect a building on the Fowler property,
North Monterey street,building to be o~ hollow tile oonstruction with
frame front. No action is taBen.
Counoilman Heiner discusses the request of Mr.Wm.Hall for a building
permit to enlarge garage space in the rear of the Radtke Apartments,
Fifth street. This matter is referred to Councilman Heiner for further
investigation.
Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Martin and carried
unanimously that the certified check ot the Palo Alto Road Materials
Co. in the amount of $40.00 presented with their bid for oiling alleys,
be returned.
Resolution No.99 is presented and read.
Motion by Counoilman Rogers,seconded by Councilman Heiner that
Resolution No.99 be adopted.

BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City
of Gilroy at regular session assembled that:
~~EREAS, one VICTOR M. CONNETT has been employed as temporary
City Traffic Officer for approximately one (l) year last past, and
his services in said capacity have been acceptable and appreciated
by the foregoing body, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED that we do hereby commend him to others de-
sirous of employing a traffic officer, and certify that his ser-
vices were and are satisfactory, and that he at all times has been
a competent and straightforward officer.

Councilman Rogers reports on investigation of request of Mr..John
Roffinella far sewer connection for his home on North Chestnut Street,
!lr.Roffinella appears before the Council to discuss the subject of
a sewerconnection for his home. No action is:.taken pending further
investigation.
Reports of City Officers are read.
Motion by Councilman Rogers,seconded by Councilman Milias and carried
unanimously that the reports of ,
City Officers be accepted and
placed on file.
Councilman Milias reports on the levee project on Carnadero Creek.
It is agreed that the Mayor,a committee of the Council and the City
Attorney discuss this matter/further with the Works Progress Adminis-
tration officials in San .Jose.
Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Martin and carried
unanimously that bills as Iresented be allowed and warrants ordered
drawn on the Treasurer.
