This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called to
order by His Honor Mayor S.D. Heck.
Present:Councilmen:George C.Milias,Jr.,Jack Rogers,George A.1~rtin,
George M.1~son,Nat Heiner. Absent:Counoilman: James Battersby.
This being the time specified for opening bids for painting the
City Hall building four"bids are presented and read:
M.L.Gruver-~953.00;Jack and Fine-$l125.00;Pacifio Painting and
Decorating Co.-$l24l.00;James Bolton,Jr.-~l378.00.
l'llotion by Councilman Ivlilias, seoonded by Councilman Heiner and carried
that the bid of M. L. Gruver of ~~963. 00 for painting the City Hall
building be accepted ,puoviding' that thE:rbonds speoified in the

specifications be secured, that he produce satisfactory evidence that
he is a licensed contractor,that he will secure the necessary com-
pensation insurance,all to the satisfaction of the City Attorney.
A "Notice Inviting Proposals for Jfire Appratusfl is read.
It is unanimously decided that a water storage tank of 150 gallons
capacity should be specified in the notice.
There being no objection,the IvIayor,with the unanimous consent of
the Council,instructs the Clerk to advertise for bids for a new
'750.G.P.M. Triple Combination Automotive Pumping Fire Engine,.,bids
to be opened,Tuesday,January 2,l~40 at 8 P.M.
A communication is read from the Rod & Gun Club inviting the
Mswor and Council to attend the C.C.C.camp dedication ceremonies,
December 20th.
A cO~iillnication is read from Mangano requesting a street. light
at Forest street and Leavesley Road.
There be ing no objection the I\layor instructs Counc ilman Hogers
to notify the Coast Counties Gas & Electric Co.to instal a street
light at Forest Street and Leavesley Road.
Mr.Ed.Piedmont appears before the Council and reports that he
has evidence that J!iIr. Sam :Newton is hauling garbage.
Motion by Councilman Rogers,seconded by Councilman Heiner and
carried that charges be filed against I~.Sam Newton for hauling
and disposing of garbage in violation of city ordinances.
