Minutes 1940/05/13 562 ~ . Gilroy, California. ~ay 13,1940. This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called to order by His Honor Mayor S.D.Heck. Present:Councilmen:George C.Milias,Jr.,Jack Rogers,James Battersby, George A.Martin,George M.Mason,Nat. Heiner.Absent:Councilmen: None. The Mayor now orders the Clerk to proceed with the canvassing of '" of the vote of the General Munioipal election held May 6,1940 and the canvassing of the absent voters ballots for the same e~otiont and appoints Councilmen Martin and Heiner as Clerks. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. ~ A oornnunication is read from the Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pao ifio stating that ,the new ?50 G. P.M. Pumping engine had been tested and found satisfaotory. Motion by Councilman Heiner,seconded by Counoilman Milias and oarried that the report of the Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pacifio on the new American-LaFrance-Foamite Corporation pumping engine be accepted. Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Rogers and carried that the American-laFrance Foamite Corporation pumping engine be accepted, the acoeptance to be signed by the Mayor and the City Clerk. Motion by Counoilman Heiner,seconded by Councilman Rogers and carried that the expenditure of $80~00 out of the 1/4~ Gas Tax money for new signs along Monterey Street, erected under the direotion of the Division of Bighways,be approved and the Clerk instructed to so advise the 564 advise the Division of Highways. Councilman Rogers discusses the matter of a fence ereoted on the prope rty of H. J. Schilling on North Eigle berry street. This matter is referred to the City Attorney. The City Treasurer reports that he has sufficient money in the Advanoe Street assessment fund to retire several bonds. I'Ilotion by Councilman Milias ,seoonded by Councilman Battersby and call carried that the City Treasurer be instructed to/bonds in Series "E" and Series "F" in such amount as funds avallable are on hand.
