This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called to
order by Ris Honor Mayor George C.Milias,Jr.
Present:Councilmen:George A.Martin,George M.~ason,James Battersby,
Nat Heiner. Absent: Councilmen: Jack Rogers,J.H.Wentworth.
The City Engineer presents plans and specifications for the wide-
ning of North Monterey Street between Leavesley Road and the North
City Limits, this work to be done with the 1/4 cent gas tax money
allocated by the State for this work.

Motion by Councilman N~rtin, seconded by Councilman Mason and
carried that the Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for the
widening of North Monterey Street between Leavesley Road and the No2th
City Limits, once a week for a period of three weeks, all work to be
done under prggeet llA as set forth in the Memorandum of Agreement for
Expenditure of 1/4 cent Gas Tax Allocated for State Highways Signed by

the City May 5,1941, and in accordance with the plans and specifications
presented by the City Engineer, bids to be opened at 8 o'clock P.M.,
July lO,1941,the bid forms to oontain a clause specifying that this work
be oompleted by August l5,194l.
The Mayor discusses a building erected by Saiche Fujimoto on the West
side of South Monterey Street,north of Eighth Street, said property
being the looaction of a service station, the building being erected
being in the fire zone and not complying with the regulations with
respect to construction in this zone.
It is the unanimous opinion that oonstruction on this building be
stopped at once and that Mx.Fujimoto be directed,by the Chairman of
the Fire Committee,to appear before the Council on July 7,1941.
