This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called to
order by His Honor Mayor George C.M1lias,Jr.
Present:Counailmen:George A,Martin,George M.Mason,Jaek Rogers,
Nat Heiner,J.H.Wentworth. Absent:Councilmen:James Battersby.
A communication is read from the City Engineer relative to the
completion of work on Miller Slough, between the Forest street
bridge and the Martin Lane bridge, reoommending that 75~ of the
contract be paid.
A oopy of a communioation from the City Engineer to the Filice &
Perrelli Canning Company, stating that the work agreed upon had
been completed, with reference to Miller Slough, dS,read.
Motion by Councilman Rogers. seconded by Councilman Wentworth and
carried that 75~ of the $380.00 contract with Mr.Ed.Howorth for his

work on W~ller Slough, between the Forest street bridge and the Mar-
tin Lane bridge,be paid and at the end of 30 days the remaining 25%
be paid, without rtrther action by the Counoil.
Motion by Counoilman Rogers, seconded by Counoilman Heiner and
carried that the Filice & Perrelli Canning Company be paid $200.00
for the city's part of the work on Miller Slough, betBeen the Forest
Street bridge and the Martin Lane bridge, as per agreement.

_ Mr.Len Holland, local representative of the Shell Oil Company now
appears before the Counoil to discuss the replacing of the curbing
on the service station property at the Northeast corner of Monterey
and Lewis 8treets,xformerly occupied by his company, stating that a
request had been made by 1~.J.E.Ayer,owner of the property, to leave
the curbing in its present condition. It is agreed to comply with
the request made by Mr.Ayer to the Shell Oil Company.

The Mayor discusses thesdrainage problem on North Forest street
stating that he attended a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
High SchOOl Distriot and stated the trustees desire to attend a meet-
ing 0 f the Council to disouss this matter.
Councilman Rogers discusses the matter of oity police going to other
communities to bring prisoners to Gilroy, stating that this came under
the duties of the Constable. The Mayor states that he will inform the
police department.
The Superintendet of streets reports that he has obtained prices on
lumber to oonstruct tables and benohes for use at Owsley Park. The

matter of purchase of the necessary lumber and construction of the
tables is placed in the hands of the Superintendent of Streets.
The matter of the absence of Night Officer Joseph Walsh being absent
from duty as a result of illness is disoussed. It is unanimously agreed
that Mr. George Brownlee be appointed Night Officer during the enforced
absence of Officer Walsh.
