Minutes 1942/03/23 658 Gilroy, California. March 23,1942. This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is oalled to order by His Honor Mayor George C.Milias,Jr. Present:Councilmen George A.Martin,George M.1~son,.Tames Battersby, Nat Heiner,.T.H.Wentworth. Absent:Councilmen .Tack Rogers. Motion by Councilman Martin, seconded by Councilman Battersby and carried that tor the General Municipal election to be held,monday, May 4,1942, State and Count, precincts 1,2,3 and 7 be consolidated into one precinct to be known as Precinct "A" and the poling place to be the Fire House located on Fifth Street, between Monterey Street .. and Eigleberry Street; that State and County precincts 4,5 and 6 be consolidated into one precinct to be known as Precinct "E" and the poling place to be the City Clerk's office,City Hall, 3 East Sixth Street,City of Gilroy. Motion by Councilman Mason ,seconded by Councilman Wentworth and carried that the following election officers be appointed for the ~ 658 General Municipal election to be held Monday,May 4,1942 and the Clerk instructed to make the necessary notice calling the election and notify the appointed Inspectors for the election;Name of Precinct A-Board of Election: Insepctor,Elsie Cotta;,Judges Lila Ramezane,Pearl Shields;Clerks-Mrs.I.Chabot,Mary Howorth. Alternate,Edith Ayer; name of Precinct B-Board of ~lection:I:nspector,Nina Avery;.Tudges-Mrs~Harry Eustice,Mildred Fredrickson;Clerks-Leola Griffin,Annette Dale. Alter- nate-Mrs.Al Sgheiza. T~e matter of the condition of the premises at the Durango Cafe, South Monterey Street, is presented to the Council by a report fram the Health Department. This matter is he14 over until the next reg- ular meeting. The matter of a request for an extension of three years on the lease of li~s.Leola Brownell is discussed. It is unanimously decided to let the present lease run to its expiration date. The matter of cleaning weeds and rubbish from various lots mthin the city is discussed. It is unanimously decided that a notice be Irepared by the City Attorney said notice to be mailed to all property owners owning vacant lots requesting that their lots be cleared by May lst;that if this work is not done by the property owners the city will do the work and charge the labor against the property on the property owners tax bill.
