This regular monthly meeting of the Oommon Council is called to
order by His Honor Mayor George C.Milias,Jr.
Present: Councilmen George A.Martin,George M.Mason,James Battersby,
Nat Heiner,J.H.Wentworth,David V.stout. Absent:Oouncilmen None.
Minutes of the meetings of July 6th and July 8th and minutes of
of the meetings of the Board of Equalization helP. July 17th,20th
and 21st ,lg42 are read and approved.
A oommunication is read trom the Gilroy Public Library Board
asking the Council to permit the board to raise the salary 6f Miss.
Pearl Lavin,librarian, from $110.00 to $120.00 per month and that
an additional amount of $200.00 be given to the board trom the city's
genera 1 fund.
This communication is 0 niered filed and the Clerk is iinstructed
to advise the Library Board thet the Council will meet the $3200.00
requested.
The Health report is presented and ordered tiled.
Applications for Liquor Permits from F.L.Callisoh & L.G.Valentine,
dba Nehi Bottling 00., and Irvin Hollister are presented. No.objeot-
ion is made.
Bonds of C.1ty Treasurer H.R.Esohenburg,Gity Marshal A.G.Goodrich
and City Clerk P.A.Cox are presented.
Motion by Counoilman Martin, seconded by Councilman Battersby and
carried that the bonds of the city officers be accepted as Im esented.

Councilman Heiner, cmirman of the Ordinance COIIm1ittee, reports that
his committee will be ready to present a report on the Coast Counties
Gas & Electrio franohise at the next meeting.
The Mayor now discusses the oiling of certain streets and alleys.
City Inspeotor C.J.Weppener reports that the sewer connection for
A.Mangano, Leavesley Road, will cost approximately $150.00.
Motion by Councilman Heiner, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried
that the sum of $150.00 be allowed to extend the city sewer line to
Leavesley Road to service the property 0 f A.Mangano.
Mr.P.Perrelli now appears before the Counoil aald c anplains about
the fenoe ereoted by Mrs. Florence .Tosselyn in front of her pro:pe rty
on North Monterey street and adjoining his property.
City Inspeotor Weppener is instructed to contact Mrs.Josselyn and
ask that she have the fenoe painted and a crown placed thereon.
Reports of the City Offioersare presented am read.
Motion by Counoilman Stout, seconded by Counoilman Wentworth am
oarried that the reports of the City Officers be accepted as read
ani plaoed on file.
Motion by Counoilman Heiner, seconded by Councilman Martin and
carried that bills as presented be alioEd and warrants' drawn on
tJ::e Treasurer.
The annual report of Logan & Frazer, oity auditors, is presented
and read.
Motion by Councilman Mason, seconded by Counoilman Heiner and
oarried that the annual audit report ot Logan and Frazer for the
fisoal year H~4l-42 be accepted as pr esented and placed on file.
A oommunication is read from Logan & Frazer,certified public
acoountants, offering to renew their agree_nt for auditing the
city books for the fiscal year, 1942-43, for the sum of $200.00.
Motion by Counoilman stout, seconded by Councilman Wentworth and
carried that the firm of Logan and Frazer, American Trust Building,
San Jose, California, be Q~ti'dh.\l oity au41tora of the city of
Gilroy for the fiscal y\)ar 1942-1943, for tfle sum of $200.00 and
subject to all stipulations in their letter of July 27,1942.
The Clerk is instructed to communicate with the State Board of
Equalization to ascertain when the Publio Utilities Assessment Roll
will be delivered.
