Applioations for Liquor Licenses of .Tess Silva d.b.a.Topnotch, and R.B.Cortez,d.b.a.Manila Pool Hall, are presented. No.objection :is made. The Mayor announces that this is the time scheduled to hear any further evidence in regard to the petition of oertain residents in tl:B vie ini ty of Carmel and Dowdy streets wi th referenoe to Dr. Stay's Veterinary Hospital. The results 0 f the visit by th e Councilmen to Dr. stay's Vet- erinary Hospital is now discussed. Mr.P.N.Ferris, a petitioner, now appears before the Council and ~ stat es that the noi se from the hounds is the ma in complaint. ...... Motion by Councilman Stout, seconded by Councilman Wentworth and carried that Dr.C.M.Stay, 210 N.Carmel Street, be instructed to to move the hounds from his property and use the property only for treatment of other people's animals, it being understood that this arrangement is temporary.,' until the p;nes~nj;0JIllergency is overt and that special precaution be taken to keep down the stench. The Clerk is instructed to communicate the action of the Council to Dr.Stay. Councilman He iner announces the annllal Firemens Banquet w:tl1':;:be _L.,j, he:ui1 Friday evening,October 9th, ? P.M. at Hotel Milias. Reports 0 f the City Officers are presente d and read. Motion by Councilman Battersby, seconded by Councilman Stout anC carried that the reports of the city officers be acoepted as read - 'wtIIJ an~ placed on file. Mr.E.E.Eustice of the firm of Chesbro and Eustice, now appa.ars before the Council to discuss a new set-up for f.re insurance on oity properties. Motion by Councilman Heiner, seconded by Councilman Martin and .... 681 carried that Mr.E.E.Eustice be appointed to collect the return pre- miums from the local insurance agents and to handle adjustments under tba new policies. Motion by Councilman Mart in, seconded by Councilman Wentworth and carried that an::.additional $33,000.00 valuation be placed on city prop! rties under the new fire insurance arrangement. Traffic Officer Norman Goodrich thanks the Council for the opportunity to attend the Civilian Protection School at Stanford University. Councilman Heiner, chairman of the Ordinance Committee, announces that his committee will meet Friday at noon in the City Attorney's further office for/disaussion of the proposed Co ast Counties Gas and E1t:ectric Company gas and electric franchise. Motion by Councilman Battersby. seconded by Councilman Stout and carried that the bills as presented be allowed and warrants ordered drawn on tlE Treasurer.
