This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Counoil is called
to order by Hls Honor Mayor George C.M1lias,Jr.
Present:Councilmen George A.M8rtln,George M.M8son,James Battersby,
J.H.Wentworth,Davld V.Stout. Absent:Councilman Nat Helner.
Motion by Counoilman Battersby, seoonded by Counoilman Mason and
carried that Counoilman Stout be granted permission to leave the
state for a period of forty days from this date.
The matter or water service for the Housing project to be
located on Carmel and Dowdy streets, between Firth and Slxth
streets, is now dlsoussed.
Motlon by Councilman Martin, seoonded by Councilman Wentworth
and carried that the purchase of the neoessary pipe to turnish
water service for the houslng project to be located on Carmel and
Dowdy streets, between Flfth and Slxth streets, and the securing
or the necessary prioritles in cOnDectlon with thls work, be placed
ln the hands of the .ater Committee.
The =atter of oiling and grading Carmel and Dowdy streets, between
Fifth and Sixth streets, is now disoussed, the Mayor stating that
he had advised the Federal Housing Adminlstration that the city
would do this work.
A notifioation of alohollc beverage license appllcation,trans-
ferring the l1cense at~77 South Monterey street, from Cruz Herrera
to Mary and Vinoent Deanda,dba Tlajuana Cate, 18 presented. No.
objection is made.
A communication is read from ~he Adjutant General requesting
intormation as to rent charged for use of Wheeler Civic Auditorlum.
The Clerk is instruoted to advise the Adjutant General that the
schedule drawn up by commanding offlce~or the National GUard

was $15.00 per night for functions of a civio nature and $45.00 per
night for functions of a oommero1al nature.
