WHEREAS, the best possible climatic conditions are. essential in
hospitalization and rehabilitation of our men wounded in the present war,
ANlj WHEREAS, Santa Clara County, Californja, is world famous for
its year-round sunshine and moderate, even temperature,
AND, WHEREAS, this County offers the further benefits of a
flowering, mountain-rimmed valley, providing a restful, soothing
environment for injured and war-weary men,
AND, WfffiREAS, this County is conve?iently near the San Franoisco-
Oakland metropolitan area, and is a junction point for rail and bus
lines,
~iEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council
of the City of Gilroy, join with the Board of Supervisors and the
Chambers of Commerce of Santa Clara County in respectfully recommend-
ing to those federal officials oharged with the responsibility of
selecting sites for Government hospitals that Santa Clara County
be given careful and special oonsideration as the ideal slte for
such a hospital, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the area near the City of Gilroy,
in said County, be given careful consideration as the site for such
a hospital.

The Mayor now discusses an Application for Liquor license for
Joe Y.Fernandez, d.b.a.Durango Cafe, located at No.99 South Monterey
Street.
A:report,by the City Inspector, of the premises located at 99
South Monterey Street, is pt' esented and read.
Motion by Counoilman Stout, seoonded by Counoilman Heiner and
carried that the State Board of Equallzation be notifled that the
Mayor and Common Council object to an On-Sale Beer Lioense being
issued to .Joe Y.Fernandez, d.b.a. Durango Cafe, located at 9~ South
Monterey Street, and the Clerk is instructed to so notify the State
Boa~d of Equalization by letter.
