This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called to
order by His Honor Mayor George C.Milias.
Present: Councilmen George A.Martin,George M..Mason,Nat Heiner,J.H.

An application for a building permit (No.NS 428,dated March 7,1946)
signed by J.A.Wilkerson, is presented and discussed.
It is unanimously agreed that the application for a building pe+mit

by J.A.Wilkerson, be turned over to the Building Inspector and the
City Attorney for investigation and a report on th.'r findings at the
next Council meeting in April.
The City Engineer now presents a Preliminary Estimate of Street
Improvement costs and discusses the matter of replacing parts of the
outfall sewer and the location of a new water well.
It is estiF!Bted that the amount of $13,000.00 will be required to
provide the necessary sewer and water lines for the Gurries,Renz and
.
Howson additions and the proposed park on the west side of the city
and approximately $7,500.00 for a new water well.

The City Attorney reports that J.A. 'Nilkerson would have no right to
erect a dwelling on the lot located at the northwest corner of Dowdy
and Fourth streets under the zoning ordinance. The City Attorney
states that Mr.Wilkerson must apply to the Gilroy City Planning
CornrLission for a hearing before trhe Council can talce any action on, the
application for a building permit.
The matter of costs for the proposed street work is discussed and it
is unanimously agreed that the city should make a test on one street
keeping eaact cost of all the work.
Motion by Councilman~entworth ~seconded by Councilman Martin and
carried that Seventh Street from Eigleberry Street to Hanna Street
be graded,oiled and gravelled, the work to be done by the city and to
start at once.
T-be City Attorney is instructed to draw up the necessary resolut1,on
to declare to following streets to be Streets of Major Importance
to be presented to the Division of Highways: Forest Street-Martin
Street to Leavesley Road; Sixth Street-Forest Street to East City
Limits;Carmel Street-First Street to Fi~th Street; Eigleberry Street-

An application for a permit to cut fifteen feet of curbing by Kendall
J.Graves and L.I1.Feathers At 28 South Uonterey Street is presented.
Motion by Councilman Martin,seconded by Councilman Stout and carried
that Kendall J.Graves and 1.M.Feathers be granted a permit to cut fifteen
feet of curbing at 28 Sout h Honterey Street.
The matter of a building permit for the Shell Oil Compa~ to replace
the present service station at the northeast oorner 0 f M:onterey Street
am Old Gilroy Street with a new building is discussed. The matter of
moving an electrolier is placed in the hands of the Lighting Committee
and the matter of changing the curbing is placed in the hands of the
Street Committee.
