This regular adj ourned meeting of the Common Council is called to
order by His Honor Mayor George ~.Milias.
PreaeBt:Councilmen George A.Martin,George M.Mason,~at Heiner,d.H.
Wentworth,Ray L.Stevens,James B.Thomas. Absent:Councilmen .trone.
The Mayor now discusses ~he proposed street. improvement program
and states that nothing definite could be done owing to the absence
of" the City Engineer.
A communication, signed".~bY2several property owners residing on
Chestnut and Maple streets, requesting that these streets be included
in the street improvement program, is presented and :read.
Thed 8ul'erl1ll'tendept of streets states that work has commenced on
west Seventh street from Eigleberry to Hanna street. The matter of
Olbtaining the necessary material to complete the work is now discussed.
It is unanimausly agreed that the street Committee should make a
survey of all the streets in the city and make their recommendations to
the Council.
The matter of Sam .Newton erecting a building on his property located
r- on the west side of Alexander Street , between Old Gilroy and sixth
L streets and being Lot ,?"Block 1.,South Range 2 East, without a Building
permit~is now discussed.
It is unanimously agreed t.hat. the Fire Committee inspect the property
and buildings and if they find the provisions of the ordinances,re-1.ative

filed in the Police Court against Sam Newton.
The Mayor announces the death of the wife of City ~ngineer W.J.Hanna
and the Clerk is instructed to write a letter of condolence and order

Motion by Councilman Went'ilorth,seconded by Councilman i:)tevens and
carried that notiees of violation of eertain section of the State
Housing Act directed to Gilroy Theatre Co.,Ine.owners of the Southern
Pacific Hatel,7l. S.Monterey street; Daniel Ruiz,owners of Cooks
Apartments,76 S.Eig1eberry Street and ~~s.Janet Phillips,her assigns

grantees and Mortgage or Trust Deed holders, owner o:f 'lhe Palms, 63 ~.
Eigleberry Street,be accepted as read said notices to be served in
the manner provided by 1aw.
The City Attorney is instructed to ascertain throught a litigation
report :from a titleeompany, the owner of land used aB an alle.y
immediately to the north of the Bank of America in Block 2,.North
Range 1 East..
