Minutes 1947/09/19 941 Gilroy, California. September 19,1947 This regularly adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called to order by his Honor, Mayor George C.Milias. Present: Councilmen George M.Mason, Nat Heiner, Ray L. Stevens and James B.Thomas. Absent: Councilmen George A.Martin and J.H.V{entworth. Bids for a new water well are now presented and read; B.S.Well Drilling Company of Los Banos bidding $10.62 per lineal foot and Western Well Drilling Company,Lts.of San Jose bidding $14.60 per lineal foot. Motion by Councilman Heiner, seconded by Councilman Mason, and carried, that the bid of the B.S.Well Drilling Company be accepted as the lowest and best bid and the con- traot awarded to the Company on their bid of $10.62 per lineal foot for the new water well. It is unanimously agreed that the Water Committee, the City Engineer and the City Attorney gather information with respect to various typmand kinds of pumps in prepara- tion for calling for bids for a pump for the new City well, and to obtain information with respect to testing the well when completed. The City Engineer presents a plan to widen First Street west of Hanna Street by proposing to purchase from Mr.Jerome Kuehling suffioient frontage of his property on the northwest corner of First and Hanna Streets to widen 942 the street'.
