This regular adj ourned meeting of the Conmon Council is called to
order HJ,.S'lionor 'Mayor George C.Milias.
,Present:Councilmen George M.Mason,J.H.Wentworth,Ray L.Stevens,
James B.Thomas,David V.Stout.,Dale D.Daniels.
The Mayor states that the purpose of" the meeting is to discuss
the matt.er of painting at. Wheeler li'iel.d.
Councilman St.out states that he had contacted tt local painting
contractors and only one,Henry Weymouth, was interested in submitting
a f'igure.
The matter of how much of" the equipment. was to be painted was dis cu
ssed and it was determined that the fences around the corrals and
chutes could be white-washed instead of painted.
Motion by Councilman Stevens,seconded by Councilman Stout and
carried that the Buildings & Grounds Committee enter into an agree-
ment with Henry Weymouth to paint the bleachers,grandstand,judges
stand,flag stand,ticket off"iceB,~adies and gents rest rooms and
the 0 utside fences inside and out. with one coat of" first grade oil
paint for the sum of $2,~89.04.
Motion by Councilman Daniels,seconded by Councilman stout and
carried that Traffic Of"f"icer James Sturla be granted a two weeks
vacation commencing July 19,1948.
The matter of" a complaint made against Ernest Olivieri f"or maint-
a goat on his property.is ref"erred to Officer Ercole Silacci with
instructions to tell i'iIr. Oliverieri t.o get rid of the goat wi thin
4 days.
Gouhcilman Daniels states that the Coast Counties Gas & Electric
Company has invited himself and the Lighting Committee to visit
Sacramento to view a. new type of street lighting just installed in
that city the. trip to be made July 9:jh.The Mayor urges all members

of the Council who can make the trip to investigate the newest type of
street lighting, do so.
Councilman Stevens discusses a request made by Mr.Vernon Sgerburne,
'who resides on South Monterey Street, to have t he dwellings on his
property provided with city s1l1ferage facilities. Itv:'is unanimously
agreed that Councilman Stevens investigate this matter with the City
Engineer.
