'rhe IJayor announces that a meet ing of the Counc il will be held November 15,1948, to discuss this report. A cal.lYilunication is read from the Superintendent of Schools rel- ative to the parking of cars on the south side of I.O.O.F.Avenue in front of the I.O.O.F.Childrens Home. This matter is referred to the StreGt Committee for investigation and report. A communication is read froIl the State Department of Public Health stating that they would send men into the ci ty to investigate and make recommendations on rat control. A comnunicat ion is read from the Gilroy Ohamber of Oommerce rec- ommending that space in the rear of the city hall be ~)laced in condition to be used for parking of city cars. This matter is referred to the Buildings and Grounds Oommittee for invastigation and repo rt. A camuunication is read from Mrs.Leola Br~vnell asking for a re- newal of her lease on 47 acres of Sewer Farm lard. This matter is referred to the Buildings and Grounds Corilluittee for investigation and report. A communication is read from L)gan and Frazer, city auditors, stating that they had completed the audit of the city's books amd records for the quarter endmdg September 30,1948, and had found everJ~hing in good order. This letter is ordered filed. An application for posit ion of Traffic Officer is presented and read and ordered placed on file. 1039 A report 0 l' water samples taken October 4,1948 by the Santa Clara County Health Department is presented and read and ordered placed on file. A ttSurvey of' Gilroy Police Department ','prepared by J .H. Jamison v Service along with suggested rules and regulations are now presented and read. Hr.J.H.3amison now appears before the Council,at the invitation of the lvlayor, to discuss the r~port. Counc ilman Stout suggests that the word "individual" appe aring on page 5 in line 6 of the report, be stricken out. This sugcestions: is unanimously concurred in by the Council. Mr.William Werner now appears before the Council to discuss the report and Mr. Firman Voorhies al$o asks the question on what pro- ceedure would be followed in sett ing up the recomme mat ions contained in the report. Mrs.I\larie Mead,representing the St.llary's Mothers Cllib, now appears before the Council to request that a cross walk be painted across First Street at I:lonterey Street to protect the children attend ing the convent. It is unanimously agreed that the Division of Highways be consulted on this matter. 'Mr.Vic Jensen now appears before the Council to request that the curb on t he Third Street side of his property be lo'wered to eliminate the low spot which gathers water duri~s the rainy season. This matter ms referred to the Street Committee for action.
