Planning Connnission to discuss the matter of off-street parking.

recommending the appointment of J\Ir.Roy Mead the serve as a member
of the commission to fill out the unexDired teTIrr of Mr.Onilon' Rector,
resigned, the term to expire January 15,1950.

carried that the recommendation of the City Planning Commission be
acceDted and that LIr.Roy IJead be appointed a menber of the City
Planning COmIQission to January 15,1950.

presented and read.
The matter of re-zoning the west side of Hanna Street between First

THAT CERTAIN CHANGES Aim ADDITIONS BE HADE TO THE l;U:,.JOR CITY
STREET SYSTEM:
~BEREj~,the State of California, through the Departn~nt of
Publi~ Works, Division of Highways, requires that certain streets
within the corporate Linits of the City of Gilroy be designated as
Major City Streets for the purpose of allocating expenditures frcra
the Special Gas Tax lllprovement :Bund allocated to said city; and
iTI{EREAS, the City Council desires that certain streets be
so designated and approved by the State of California, through its

NOTI,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the

sura of ;:~50.00 be donated to the Volunteer Fire Department.
A proposal for additional work on the Forest Street resurfacing job
from the Granite Construction Company is presented and discussed.
Eotion by Councilman Daniels,seconded by Councilman Thomas and carried
that the approval of an additional expenditure on the Forest Street
resurfacing job be requested from the Division of Highways on the
the proposal made by the Granite Construction Company; that the decis ion
to accept the proposal be withheld until advioe is received from the
Division 0 l' Highways.

carried that billa as presented be allowed and warrants ordered drawn
on the City Treasurer.
It is unanimously agreed that the California State Automobile
Association be granted permission to make a traffic survey for the
establis hing a uniform system 0 f "STOP" streets, that the survey be
made at no expense to the city and that the city will not be oblig-
ated in any way to purchase signs from the association.
