This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called
to order by His Honor Mayor George C.Milias.
Present:Councilmen George M.Mason,J.H.Wentworth,Ray L.Stevens,
James B.Thomas,Dale D.Daniels. Absent:Councilman David V.Stout.
The Mayor states that the purpose of this meeting is discuss
storage ot gasoline at the proposed new service station of the
Regal Petroleum Corporation at the northeast oorner of I8wis and
Monterey Streets.
The Mayor now oalls upon Counoilman Thomas,ohabMnan of the Fire
Committee for a report on the matter of storage ot gasoline as
applied for in the building permit.

Mr.Arron Richards representing the Regal Petroleum Corporation
now appears before the Counoil to disouss the matter o~ gasoline
storage as applied for and oites storage requirements in several
cities in the eastbay area.
Mr.Hugh Hersman,owner of the property upon which the proposed
service station is to be ereoted now appears before the Couneil
and states that he made inquiry at Salinas,Hollister,Watsonville

Councilman Daniels asks the spokesman for the Regal Petroleum
Corporation if they plan to operate a self-service gasoline station
and the spokesman states that they have no plan to operate the proposed
station as a self-service station.
Motion by Counci~an Stevens,seconded by Counci~an Thomas and
carried that the Regal Petroleum Corporation be granted a permit to
instal three ten thousand gallon "B4erg1!oun4on~a!'88e tanks for gas-
olinejthat all unloading of gasoline be done on the propertYjthat
th e plL'o~ta!hDll8i'othth8nj*.gGta17d8 ofntBe Nat ional Board of Fire Under-
writers be followed in this installation and that the application
for Building Permit by the Regal Petroleum Corporat ion to erect
a service station and install the gasoline storage tanks at the
northeast corner of Lewis and Monterey street be approved.

Mrs.Marion Pedersen mow appears before the Council to discuss the
provislhoBS of the license ordinance and the fee oharged for the
peddling of ioe cream in the city.
This matter is referred to the City Attorney for investigation.
