This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called to
order by His Honor Mayor Ge orge C.Milias.
Present: Councilmen George NI.l,1ason,J.H. Wentworth,Ray L.Stevens,
James B.Thomas,David V.Stout,Dale D.Daniels.
The Mayor states that the purpose of this meeting is to discuss
the annexation ot the territory bounded on the east by the west
line of Pr~ncevalle 'Street,north by the south. line or Third Street,
west by the west boundary of Castlewood Park Unit No.1 and south
by the south line or Fifth Street.
The City Engineer presents figures on costs and the amount of
material and labor required to place water lines,sewer mains ,fire
alarm boxes,etc. in the area proposed to be annexed.
The, final figure on cost for annexation is determined to be $3.00
per front foot. The City Engineer and the City Attorney are inst-

ructed to contact certaln property owners in the area to ascertain
their sentiment with respect to certain rights of way that should
be obtained for sewer lines and storm sewer lines.
A delegation of persons residing in the southeast ~ortaonoof the
city in the Vicinity of the Eliot School on Old Gilroy Street, are
present to discuss the trarfic situation in the vicinity of the
school. Mr.George Porcella,one of the persons residing in the area
is the spoke sman fpr the group and relates to the Counc il the

the dangerous situation prevailing on Old Gilroy Street as the result
of motor vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed.It is suggested
that * traffic officer on duty from e:30 A.M. to 9:15 A.M. and from
12 o'clock noon to 1:15P.,would have a great influence on slowing
down the traffic in the vicinity oft the school.
The Mayor states that he will instruct the City Marshal to detail
the traffic officer to patrol Old Gilroy Street in the vicinity of
the Eliot School between the hours of e:30 A.M. and 9:15 A.M. and
from 12 o'clock noon to 1:15 P.M. each school day.
The City Attorney states that there are two methods by which the
property owners in the area proposed to be annexed to the city can
pay the amount designated by the Council-by putting up the money
voluntarily or by the formation of an improvement district.
Councilman Stevens discusses a master street plan for the city and
the Clerk is instructed to advise the Planning Commission to make a
study of a master street plan with reference to future development
and expansion of the city mimits.
Councilman Stout presents a sketch of a proposed city limits sign

designed by Rundle's and states that the signsas shown on the sketch
would cost the city $40.50 per monthJ It is suggested that a part of
the illustrations on the sketch could be eliminated thus cutting down
the cost.
