Gilroy, and declared to be its policy, thE'~t fron and after the adoption
of this resolution, no alU1exation of terrj;dH!:1ry-:~tD:-the rJitJT of Gilroy
nill be agproved by the said Gouncil unless and until there shall be
first proviclecl and installed in said territory adequate seuer and water
fac ili ties, fire hJTdrants an d alarm boxes, and streets graded, grave lIed
and oiled and established, and sidevlalks and curbs laid, all to the
satisfaction of the Gonnon Council prior to the annexation of such
territory.

OF TERRIT05Y EJSIDE THE CITY OF GILROY BE APPROVED BY TFJ!: COUNCIL
UNLESS AIID UIIll' 11 STREETS .AIiJD ALLEYS kiE ESTABLISHED AIm GIU1.DED AS
REciUIRED BY TEE CITY OF GILROY.
nHEREAS the growth of the City of Gilroy is resulting in the sub-
division of land within the city limits, and smne of the said sub-
divisions have been created without provision having been made by
the subdivider or on~er for estahlishing and grading streets and
alleys, and without reference to any comprehensive plan for the
deye 10lJment of the City of Gilroy, and
tHEREAS no definite policy has heretofore been adopted by the ~
COIillilon CoUncil of the City of Gilroy relative to such streets and i ,j
alleys, and such want of policy has led to ~ncertainties as to the ..
requirements of the City of Gilroy, creating unnecessary difficulties,
ancl: the Jouncil believes that the orderly developmentof the City
requires that a policy be determined upon and adopted, and placed
in the record relative to the streets and alleys in new subdivisions,
and the Cornmon Council having duly cons iderecl the same,
NO';[, TF....:EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by th.e Common Council of the City
of Gilroy, and declared to be its policy, that it will not in the
future approve any subdivision of land in the City of Gilroy or any
Map or Plat thereof, until and unless the subdivider o~ owner of such
tract shall have established,gravelled,oiled and graded streets and
alleys and laid sidewalks,curbs and gutters in the subdivision sat-
isfactory and acceptable to the Common Council cl>f the City of Gilroy.
ADOPTED AND PAsSED the 12th day of June,1950, by the following vote:

The TvIayor now discusses the propased I'lidening 0 f Honterey Street.
It is unaninously ~reed that the LIayor driscuss the matter of widen-
ing of IIonterey Street with Col. In.B. Skee;gs, of the Divis ion 0 f High-
ways.
Councilman Stout discusses the matter of lending auditorium chairs
to various organizations and clubs. It is agreed the the borrower
sign for the number of chairs and be responsible for any lost or

The Clerk states the Gi ty, LIarshal is not ab Ie to be present and has
asked the Clerk to present his thoughts about the new Studebaker police
~r; the night officers want to use the Plymouth car now used by the
Ci ty T'Iarshal and the I1arshal to tal{8 the new Studebaker. !fhe Marshal
states that it wakes no difference to him.
It is agreed that the equipment on both cars be checked by the
Purclmsing Agent and the Chief Administrative Officer to ascertain
tl::e cost,if any, to switch the cars and to renort to the Council at
the next meeting.
