r.lotion by Councilman Kennedy, seconded by Councilman Gallo and
carried that Councilman Carl W. Pate be Mayor Pro-tem.

RESOLUTION DESIGNATING CERTAIN CITY STREETS AS MAJOR CITY STREETS
AND REQUESTING APPROVflli THEREOF BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,DEPART-
ME1~'T OF PUBLI C WORKS.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Gilroy that
pursuant to the provisions of Section 2053,Chapter 2,Division 3,
of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, the
City Council does hereby desi6liate the following city streets as
additional major city streets in the City of Gilroy:
Tenth Street from Rosanna Street to Eigelberry Street
Ro sanna Street from Sixtli street to Tenth Street
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
The.t the State of California,Department of Public Works,is
hereby requested to approve the addition of the above described
streets to the Major City Street System.
AND BE IT Fm~THER RESOLVED:
That there be withdrawn from the Major City Street System
tlJe following streets heretofore designated as Major City ;:itreets
and streets of maj or importance, and t:Lat the same no longer be
a portion of the L"ajor City Street System in the City of Gilroy,
to-wit: Hamla Street from Sixth Street to Ninth Street
Finth Street,from Harma Street to Eigelberry Street.

The matter of purchase of a fire engine is now discussed.
A representative of the American-La France Corporation is present
and gives details on the purchase of a standard fire engine through
the Civilian Defense Agency;the city's application ta the FCDA
having been approved.
Fire Chief M.J.Ramezane abd Assistant Chief L.E.Osborn are
present and are called upon by Mayor Pro-tern Pate to give their
views on the type and kind of fire engine they felt ~ould be
the best for the department.After considerable discussion it was
determined that the city should purchase a fire engine with standard
equipment. rather then an auxilliary piece of equipment which is
being offered by the State at $11,550.00.
A representative of the Seagrave fire engine is called to appear

before the Council and given the opportunity to prepare figures on
engine and equipment decided upon by the Fire Chief and His assistant.
The Seagrave representative presents his proposal for a LIodel ~OO B-
750 gal.pumping engine-$15,594.00 plus 3% State Sales Tax; The.;'Amer.ican-
LaFrance-Fo&nite Corporation presents his proposal for an Invader Model-
750 gal.pumping engine-$15,475.00 plus 3% State Sales Tax.
Motion by Councilman Rush,seconded by Councilman White and carried
that the application for a fire engine to the State Civilian Defense
Agency be signed and the specifications be for an American-LaFrance-
Fo&nite Corporation Invader Model ,750 GPM pumping engine,not less
tljan 200 HP,Class A test, total cost, including Jtate Sales Tax,toE be
$15,939.25,f.o.b.Gilroy.
