The Mayor announces th2t the f' urpose of this meeting is to cons';'
ider rezoning of portions of the city as recommended by the Gilroy
City Planning Corr~ission and to hear any protests and/or object-
ions to the proposed rezoning.
The Mayor nmi calls upon the City Clerk to outline the proposed
rezoning by use of a large wall map upon which the proposed changes
in zoning were indicated in color.
A communication signed by five of t he six propert~r owners !.'hose
property is located on the west side of Alexander Street beh,'een
Sixth Street and Old Gilroy Street (except the south 149.50 feet)
requesting that their propertie s remain zoned as is ,naIllely. ,Zone ItDlt.
The Mayor now asks if there is anyone present who desires to

speak against the rezoning as recorr~ended by the Gilroy City Plann-
ing COlTlrnission.
Mr. Adolf SChieler,188 East 6th Street,now appears before the
Council to request that his propert.y remain in Zone ItDII instead
of being rezoned into Zone "BtI as reco!lJInendE:d by the Planning
Commission, st.ating t hat he had plans for future development of his
property by building a st&re building on the Sixth Street side of
his property next to the alley.

Motion by Councilman Pate,seconc.ed by Councilman Ronald tbat the
recommendation of the Gilroy City Planning Commission to rezone

Street (except tbe south 14-5.50 feet) from Zone Ilnll to Zone uBIl
be accepted and that the Planning Commission bring in a recoL~end-
ation ~ith respect to the rezoning of the Sixth street side of
the Schieler property.

That the Common Council of the City of Gilroy does hereby propose
tllat the Zoning Ordinance I-:o ..422 of the City of Gilroy be amended by
changing territory in and boundaries of B and C-l Districts or Zones
as follow s:
That the follow ing de[;cribed territory in t he said City of Gilroy

had made a decision on whether or not to pruchase the lot,well and
pump located in the Walnut Orchard Park Tract.
C0uncilman Ronald, chairman of the t'later ComJlLittee, states that his
cO!i1fnittee had considered !;!r.Crurnpts offer but had decided that the size
of the Viell and the location would not be satisfactory to the city.The
Couneil agrees unanimouslJr with the committeels decision.

speak on rezoning. The Mayor states that the passage of the ordinance
cloEed all discussion on the rexoning and stated that he had asked on
two diff'erenct occasions during the hearing if there was anyone present
v!ho wislled to speak against the proposed rezoning.
The matter of Fire Zone changes is discussed and it is unanirliou81~'
8.bTeed to turn this matter over to the Fire Committee for study and
report to the COlli'1cil.
