An invitation to a Housing Conference conducted by the Housing
Commission of i~be DepartmeDt of Industrial rielatiolis,to be held in
San Jose,JaLuary 13,1954 is presented. The Eayor advL:.~es that any
member of the Counc.il who desires to attend to notify the City Clerk.
A communication is. re:ld from County Tax Collector Roy Emerson
enclosing a deed fDI1 delinquent property advising that the deed,with
the necessary resolution, should be recorded.
The City Attorney presents and reads RESOLWION NO.]07.
Motion by Cogncilman Pate,secon6ed by CounciLman Gallo that
RESOLUTION NO.307 be adopted.

stating t bat Young Fae Yee ,Mr.Fook Low and t he Chinese Masonic Lodge
wish to remove all femains from the Old Chinese Cemetery located at the
Gilroy Golf and Country Club on property owned by the Ci t.y of Gilroy.
Motion by Councilman Pate,seccnued by Councilman Ronald and carried
tbat permi ssion be granted to the Chinese r.lI'asonic Lodee ,Mr.F'ook Low and
Young Fae Yee to remove all remain::-~ from the Old Chinese Cemetery
located at. UJe Gilroy Golf Cltib on property- owned by the City of Gilroy

of the cit.y and that his com.mittee recofnmends tllat nothing be done

of the Gilroy Garbage Disposal Service be extended for another five
years.' ,
The City Attorney is instructed to draw up an extension of the
garbage franchise for five years.
Dr.E.J.Chesbro,chairmfu'1 of the Gilroy City Planning Commission,now
appears before the Cowlci1 to discuss the proposed chmlge from the
present one fire zone to three fire zones as recommended by the Planning
Commission and the elimination of the present provision for a four foot
set-back on Eigelberry street,as recommended by the Planning Commission. a
Mr.Mike Filice now appears before the Council alld presents a map
and a request for annexation to the city of Castlev.ood Park Unit No.~.
The matter of drainage in the area proposed to be annexed is discussed
and the Clerk is instructed to write a letter to tl1e Board of Super-
visors of Santa Clara Count.;.' reQuesting that s.ome action be taken by
the property authority to form the necessary drainage zone which will
include the territory proposed to be annexed.and to advise the Board
that the Council will be glad to attend any hearing the Board may
feel is necessary.
Motion by Councilman ?ate,seconded by Councilman Kennedy and carried
that the map of Castlewood Park Unit No.2 and the request for annexation

The City Attorney now reports on hsi examination of the bids forG

requirements of the published notice.

that the bid of the United Paef'fic Insurance Company,represented by

Councilman Pate discusses the matter of appointing a right-of-way
agent torepresent the city in negotiations for necessary land to be
acquired by the city for drainage purposes on tbe Pacheco Pass Road.
Motion by Councilman Pate,seconded by Councilman Gallo and carried
that Byron Brown be appointed right-of-way agent for the city~in
negotiations for the necessary land lMlX along the north side of the
Pacheco Pass road to be acquired for drainage purposes and thet:the
. Chief Ailininistrative Officer and the street Conmittee obtain appraisals
from two sources.
Councilman Pate discusses tbe matter of a small portion of street

that a decision had been made to do some street at this corner and

Carmel Street to Wayland Lane. The Cit./ Attorney is instructed to
prepare the necessary resolution accepting Broadviay between Carmel Street

Councilman Pate presents a letter from it!.J .Hanna,Jr. of the City
Engineers's office requestir~ $50~00 for expenses to attend the annual
Highway and Traffic Engineer's School at the University of California at
Los Angeles.
Motion by C;Ou;-)culman Kennedy,seconded by Councilman Gallo and carried
that W.J.Hanna,Jr. be allowed the sum of $50.00 toward his expenses to
attend the Highway and Traffic Engineer's School.
