This regular adj ourned meeting of the Common Council is called to

Present:Councilmen Carl \'/.Pate,Courtland VI.Rush,J.Hughes Kennedy,

The Mayor announces that the purpose of this meeting is to consider
the establi s"hing of three fire zone s in the city as recommended by
the Gilroy City Planning Commission.
After considerable discussion ~ld the discovery of discrepancies
between provi sions of the 1952 BniforiJl Building Code and ordinances

of the city with respect to fire zone requirements and regulations
it is unanimously agreed to meet with the Gilroy City Planning
Co:\mission on Monday,January 25,1954 at 8 0 'clock P.M. in the Council
Chambers to discuss their recommendations vlith them.
~f.r. Stuart Fletcher representing the Board of Trustees of the Gilroy
Union High School District nO\l; appears before the Council and presents
a letter from the school board which requests the closing of Forest

election to be held April 20,1954,carries.The letter,acCoIUpanied by
a map,showing the proposed re-routing of FOrE~Gt Street is presented and

be considered a formal request from the High School Board to close :B'orest

After discussion the l~ayor asks :Llembers of the Council for their
opinion on the request of the High School Board of Trustees. Councilmen
RuSh, Vlhi te a..'1d Ronald state they favor the closing of the street as re-
que sted;Councilman Gallo \Nants more time to study the matter as does
Councilman Pate ;Coul1cLi.man Kennedy stating that he want~) to go on record
definetly against the closing of the street as proposed by the High
School Soard of Trustees.
It is unani~ously agreed that the Council that a definite corruni tment
regarding the closing of Forest Street as requested by the High School
Board of Trustees at the regular 'l1onthly meeting of the Council,Monday,
February 1,1954.

of the Clerk of the Cit.y of Gilroy under the provisions of the IIArmex-

asking that there be annexed to the City of Gilroy as uninhabited

WHEREAS,it appears that said petition bas been signed by the
OV1Ders of not less than one-fourth Cl) of the area of the land in
such territory and represents not less than one-fourth of the assessed
value of such territory according to the last preceding equalized
assessment roll of the County of Santa Clara,in ehich said territory
is situated,and that the tract therein and herein described is contiguous
with the corporate limits of the said City of GilroY;~1d
TllHEREAS, the proponents of the said annexation have submitted to
the Boundaries Commission of the County of Santa Clara the proposal J
for the annexation of the. aforesaid territory to the said City of
Gilroy ~'1.d the said Boundaries Commission has reported to the said ..
proponents approving the definiteness and certainty of the proposed
boundaries;and

1939" above referred to,requires that upon the filing of such a
petition,a Resolution shall be adopted by the CO!MnOn Council giv-
ing notice of such proposed annexation,and fixing the time and place

the said territory propssed to be annexed lnay ap~ar and object
thereto.

That the COJTIJUon Council of the City of Gilroy hereby desig-
nates the said territory proposed to be annexed to the City of
Gilroy asIlCastl,:';'.'JOod Park Unit No.2ft and. that said petition be
referred to the City P1aruling Commission of the City of Gilroy
for its report and recornraendation thereon.
BE IT FURTHEH RESOLVED,AND IT IS HEREBY ORDERED:

of-vlay along Pacheco Pass Road for the proposed 8th Street Drain-
age and presents an outline of an agreement to be presented to
Right-of-Way Agent Byron Erown to be used in discussions with
