This regular adjourned meetin~ of the Common Council is called
to order by His Honor Mayor George C.Milias.
Present: Councilmen Carl W.Pate,Sig Sanchez,Kenneth L.Petersen,
Courtland M.Rush,Everett C.Wentworth. Absent:Councilman Charles
Gallo.
The Mayor now discusses the formation of the Off Street Parking
Commission as provided in Resolution No.404
The City Attorney presents and reads RESOLUTION NO.411;
Motion by Councilman Rush,seconded by Councilman Sanchez that
RESOLUTION NO.411 be adopted.

BE IT RESOLVED:
That Resolution No.404,adopted the 19th day of November,1956,
by the Common Council of the City of Gilroy establishing anl0ff-
Street Parking Commission be amended by requiring said Commission
to be composed of seven (7) members instead of five (5) members.

The Mayor now recommends and the Council concurs that the follow-
ing be appointed as m~mbers of the Off Street Parking Commission:
Vernon Gwinn, Carrol Wentz, William Hall,Fook Low,Vernon Wills, Clifford
Kelly, George C. Renz., .

carried that the reeommendations made by the Mayor be accepted an~,

This being the time specified in a notice published in the
Gilroy Evening Dispatch calling for bids for Comprehensive
Liability insurance for the city three bids are presented and
read:

Motion by Councilman Pate, seconded by Councilman Rush and carried [J
that the bid of E.E.Eustice,r~presenting Pacific Indemnity Company, : .......
to furnish the Comprehensive Liability Insurance for the City of
Gilroy from January 6,1957 for the ensuing three years, for a
total annual premium of $2,498.95, be accepted and the liability
insurance awarded to E.E.Eustice,representing the Pacific Indemnity
Company.
The City Attorney presents and reads RESOLUTION NO.412.
Motion by Councilman Pate,seconded by Councilman Rush that
RESOLUTION NO.412 be adopted.
RESOLUTION NO.412
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT FOR STREET
LIGHTING IN STREET LIGHTING DISTRICT NO.1
RESOLVED,by the Common Council of the City of Gilroy,that
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of gilroy did heretofore
by Resolution No.401 accept the bid of Pacific Gas and Electric
Company for the furnishing and installing of steel street lighting
standards and street lamps within the boundaries of Street Lightin~
District No.l,and for supplying electricity for the lighting thereof,
which bid as the lowest, best and only bid received;
WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company 'is the only electric
utility capable of supplying the electric service in said bid
provided;
WHEREAS, pursuant to the acceptance of said bid Pacific Gas and
Electric Company has submitted a contract,in form annexed jereto,
covering the furnishing of the wnrk and service in said bid
provided, which form of contract is in accordance with the said
bid and the intention of the parties.
NOW,THEREFORE,IT IS HEREBY FOUND,ORDERED AND DETERMINED:
The 'public ~onvenience and necessity require that the'Mayor and
City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed,in the
name of the City of Gilroy and under its seal,to execute said
contract.
PASSED 8nd ADOPTED this 4th day of January,1957 by the following
vote at a regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of
G1illroy.
