Minutes 1959/06/29 1987 Gilroy, California June 29, 1959 This regular adjourned meeting is called to order by His Honor Sig Sanchez. Present: Councilmen Carl W. Pate, Courtland M. Rush, Wil- ford E. Jordan, Kenneth Petersen, and Everett Wentworth. Absent: Councilman Charles Gallo. A letter is read from Briggs and Kent requesting permission to erect two signs for the purpose of advertising the Park Mea- dows subdivision. Motion by Councilman Pate second by Councilman Rush and carried that Briggs and Kent be granted permission to erect two signs for the purpose of advertising the Park Meadows subdivision. The Mayor now asks for the bids of the industrial sewer line. The bids are opened and read as follows: George C. Renz Con- struction Company - Unit No. 1 which includes pre-cast pipe for the extension of the existing line to the outfall sewer line 1:'4,338.60, Alternate No. 1 which includes cast in place pipe '52,883.80, Alternate No.2 which includes reinforced pipe '63,013.10, and Alternate No.3 which includes non-reinforced ~ipe $55,252.50; Granite Construction Company - Unit No.1 ~5,696.00, Alt. #1 $59,122.00, Alt. #2 No bid on this item, Alt. #3 $58,707.00; J. and M. Inc. - Unit #1 No bid on this item, Alt. #1 No bid on this item, Alt..#2 $65,560.40, Alt. #3 $59,514.80: Monolithic Pipe Lines - Unit #1, $4,571.50, Alt. #1 $54,154.00, Alt. #2 $70,703.70, Alt. #3 No bid on this item; Oakland Sewer Construction Company - Unit #1 $3,798.66, Alt. #1 $65,110.58, Alt. #2 $62,812.94, Alt. #3 $56,645.18. Motion by Councilman Rush second by Councilman Pate and car- ried that the low bid of Renz Construction Company be accepted subject to the approval of the City Attorney and the City Engineer, for $59,591.10, for Unit No.1 and AL~. #3 for non-reinforced pipe. Chief Administrative Officer Carr reports that Dorothy Good- win, Account Clerk, is resigning and he asks permission of the Council to use Associated Consultants to conduct examinations for lRS!G: a new employee. There is no objection from the Council. Councilman Pate reports that he has been asked by the Mayor to act as a representative of the Council to attend the County Project Meetings and requests Chief Administrator Carr and Dir- ector of Public Works Kludt to attend the first meeting with him. The Mayor recommends that Councilman Pate be officially ap- pointed as Council Representative of the County Roads Project Committee. Motion by Councilman Rush second by Councilman Jordan and carried that Councilman Pate be officially appointed County Road Project Representative. Councilman Petersen requests that Mr. Hyde be hired to submit a plan for Miller Park in the amount of $150.00. The Mayor suggests that Mr. Hyde meet with the Building and Grounds Committee to discuss the plan and report back to the Council at the next meeting. The Mayor instructs Director of Public Works Kludt to have Davies Tree Surgeons check on the Oak Trees in Miller Park. Councilman1Nentworth requests an additional garbage can for the park across from the Willow's Cafe. Purchasing Agent Reinsch is instructed to purchase an additional garbage can. ' Councilman Petersen states that Mr. Hyde will meet with the Buildings and Grounds Committee on July 1st at 2:00 p.~. Councilman Wentworth reports that he has received compli- mentary reports on the newly painted e1ectfoliers. Motion by Councilman Pate second by Councilman Wentworth and carried that this meeting be adjourned to July e, 1959 at 8 o'clock p.m. in the Council Chambers, Wheeler Auditorium, Gilroy, California. .
