Present: Council Members: George T. Duffin, Wilford E. Jordan, Kenneth L. Petersen, Everett C. Wentworth, and Sig Sanchez., Absent: Council Members: Norman B. Goodrich and Charles F. QuartiroJi. f .. ' The Mayor explains that bids for reconstruction work on Princevalle Street from Fifth to Sixth Streets for an alley in back of Oak Cou~t and for realignment of Wayland Lane were opened at the last regular Council meeting. No action was taken due to lack of a quorum. He states that George C. Renz Cons- truction Company were the low bidders In the amount of $13,153.50. ' City Administrator Carr reports that the low bid was approved by the City Attorney. Motion by Councilman Jordan second by Councilman Petersen and carried that the low bid In the amount of $13,153.50 of George C. Renz Construction Company be awarded. A petition for annexation of property on South Monterey Highway conti- guous to the City limits is read. City Administrator Carr presents Resolution No. 638. () -1 t:'J' ') -. Discussion is had on the proposed ten inch water line for the proposed Second Southern Addition. Motion by Councilman Jordan second by Councilman Wentworth that Resolu- tion No. 638 be adopted. RESOLUTION NO. 638 J RESOLUTION GIVING NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNEXATION TO CITY OF GILROY OF UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN AND DESIGNATED "SECOND SOUTHERN ADDITION (9-61) TO THE CITY OF GILROY" AND GIVING NOTICE OF TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING OF PROTESTS THERETO. COUNCIL MEMBERS: None COUNCIL MEMBERS: None A letter is read from Stone and Schulte requesting permission to erect a sign on the Chiesa property at First Street and Wayland Lane to advertise home development. City Administrator Carr explains the request. Motion by Councilman Goodrich second by Councilman Petersen and carried that the request of Stone and Schulte to erect a sign on property at First Street and Wayland Lane be granted. A letter is read from the Parks and Recreation Commission thanking the Council for cooperation in securing the site for a Recreation Park. A report from the Planning Commission is read recommending that a variance be granted to Robert and Warren Byers for set back on Miller Avenue for an addition to their present building. City Administrator Carr presents and reads Resolution No. 639. Motion by Councilman Wentworth second by Councilman Goodrich that Resolution No. 639 be adopted. - RESOLUTION NO. 639 I I..- RESOLUTION APPROVING AND CQNFIRMING DECISION OF PLANNING COMMISSION GRANTING TO ROBERT K. BYERS AND WARREN BYERS, A VARIANCE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ADDITION TO BUILDING AT FIRST AND PRINCEVALLE STREETS AND MILLER AVENUE. Motion by Council- man Goodrich second by Councilman Petersen that Ordinance No. 663 be adopted. ORDINANCE NO. 663 AN ORDI NANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDI NG SECTIONS 21. lOb, 21.32, 21.66, 21. 107, ~ AND REPEALING SECTIONS 21.108 AND 21.109 OF THE GILROY ,CITY CODE PERTAINING TO THE U. LOCAL REGULATIONS FOR THE SUBDIVISION OF LAND. NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None The Mayor explains the County site requirements for the pr.oposed Justice Court and states that they require a deed for 104 feet frontage on Rosanna Street amd a separate agreement for development of additional parking on the City pro- perty. Motion by Councilman Petersen second by Councilman Wentworth and carried that the City Attorney be authorized to proceed with preparing a deed and agree- ment for the proposed Justice Court as requested by the County. 2153 : I l.,..; City Administrator Carr informs the Council that the Santa Clara County Flood Control and Water Conservation District have requested written approval of the change I n genera I channel a II gnments as shown on the map tit led "Ll agas Creek Watershed", formerly designated as the Miller Slough Project. Discussion is had. Motion by Councilman Goodrich second by Councilman Wentworth and carried that the Gilroy City Council generally approve the plan for channel alignments as set forth in the map "11 agas Creek Watershed". City Administrator Carr reports that he has Feceheed a recommendation from Director of Public Works Kludt-for advancement to Silvio Dal Bon to the next step in the salary range from $376.00 to $395.00 to be effective October I, 19~. Discussion is had on the proposed bids for a four door six cylinder sedan automobile for the Public Works Department. Motion by Councilman Duffin second by Councilman Wentworth and carried that the plans and specifications for a four door sedan autbmmblle"be approved as presented with one exception and that is to delete the maximum requirement of 110" wheelbase. A letter from Rev. Ask is read requesting a date to address the Council on a vital matter. City Administrator Carr Is requested to determine what subject Rev. Ask wishes to ~peak on. Councilman Goodrich requests that he be excused from the Council meeting. The Mayor excuses Councilman Goodrich. The Mayor states that all Council Members received a copy of the City A~ ministrator1s 1960-61 yearly report and it was very interesting. City Administrator Carr explains his report of anticipated revenue from property taxes and allocation of tax revenue to funds, as submitted to each Council member. Councilman Duffin requests that some other Council Member be appointed to take his place representing the City of Gilroy on the CouNty Trafflcways . Committee because he will be unable to attend these meetings in the future. The Mayor states that he will consider Councilman Duffin1s resl~nation. The Mayor also reminds the Council of the City barbeque on September 27th. The Mayor requests all Council plan to attend the League Conference Motion by Councilman Wentworth Council meeting adjourn.
