Minutes 1974/10/18 Roll Call Sewer Farm Property Suit re: In- juncti on- sewer farm 3623 October 18, 1974 Gilroy, California The Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Gilroy City Council was called to order by His Honor Mayor Norman B. Goodrich at 8:04 p.m. Present: Council Members: George T. Duffin, John Hughan, John E. Pate, David V. Stout and Norman B. Goodrich. Absent: Council Members: Dennis L. DeBell and Anthony C. Silva. The Mayor stated the purpose of the meeting was to hear a report on properties adjacent to the City's sewer farm proposed for an emergency industrial wastewater ponding area. The City Attorney explained the suit pending and filed with the City to obtain an injunction against further overflows into Llagas Creek at the Sewer Farm. He further explained the procedure regarding injunctions of this type. He further noted that an understanding with the local processing plants would have to be established to provide for the reduction of plant flows during an overburden at the City's percolation ponds. The Mayor excused the City Attorney. City Administrator Wood explained the silting problems at the sewer farm and recommended that the City acquire additional lands at the sewer farm location for an emergency industrial wastewater ponding area. A report from Walter J. Doyle, appraiser, in regard to the property adjacent to the sewer farm offered to the City, was noted. Director of Public Works-City Engineer Hansen noted that a soils report had been made on said property offered to the City. Discussion was had in regard to the local processing plants parti- cipating with the City to attempt to solve the problem at the sewer farm. Councilman Stout requested that Staff investigate other properties adjacent to the Sewer Farm in order for the City to obtain the best land for better percolation. Mr. Ed Keaveney addressed the Council and requested that the City investigate other properties in the area prior to accepting the property now offered to the City. Council requested that the City Administrator meet with the local processing representatives in regard to their participation on the problem. Council requested that the Director of Public Works-City Engineer obtain additional soil tests on other properties near the sewer farm property and report back to Council at the next Council meeting.
