The Adjourned Meeting of the Gilroy City Council was called to
order by His Honor Mayor Norman B. Goodrich at 8:05 p.m.
Roll Call Present: Council Members: Dennis L. DeBell, George T. Duffin, John
Hughan, John E. Pate, Anthony C. Silva, David V. Stout and Norman B.
Goodrich.

The Mayor acknowledge receipt of the Registrar of Voters' Certi-
ficate of Official Returns of the General Municipal Election of March 4,
1975.
Councilman Stout congratulated representatives of Explorer Post
#818 and noted that these high school students were the future of Gilroy.
Res. #75-8 Motion was made by Councilman Duffin seconded by Councilman Pate
that the reading of Resolution No. 75-8 declaring the total vote and elected
officers of the City be waived and that it be adopted.
RESOLUTION NO. 75-8
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY APPROVING AND
ADOPTING THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS' CANVASS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
AND DECLARING RESULT OF SUCH ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF GILROY ON MARCH
4, 1975.
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Gilroy, California,
that

WHEREAS, by order of this Council a general municipal election was
held and conducted in the City of Gilroy and consolidated with the Biennial
School District Governing Board Member Election on Tuesday, the 4th ~ay
of March, 1975, as required by law and the Charter of said City as a~nded;
WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and
legally given; voting precincts were properly established; election offi-
cers were appointed and election supplies furnished; and in all respects
the election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat received
and canvassed, and the returns thereof made, determined and declared in time,
form and manner as required by the Charter of said City as amended apd the
general laws of the State providing for and regulating municipal elections
in said City;

WHEREAS, the Registrar of Voters did conduct the canvass of the
returns of said municipal election and did count the absentee ballots cast
thereat, pursuant to direction and order of the City Council of said City;
and
WHEREAS, said canvass was duly completed and the results thereof
were certified by the Registrar of Voters and submitted to this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AND ORDERED, as follows:

1. Said municipal election was held and conducted in the City of
Gilroy, County of Santa Clara, State of California, and consolidated with ___
the Biennial School District Governing Board Member Election on Tuesday,
March, 4, 1975, in the time and in the form and manner as required by law.
2. That there were established five (5) voting precincts for the
purpose of holding said municipal election consisting of either regular
election precincts established for holding state or county elections, or a
consolidation of some or all of such precincts, as follows:

CONSOLIDATED PRECINCT NO.1, comprlslng state and county precincts
designated Precinct Numbers 3952 and 3954 as established by the Santa Clara
County Board of Supervisors.
CONSOLIDATED PRECINCT NO.2, comprising state and county precincts
designated Precinct Numbers 3953, 3956 and 3965 as established by the Santa
Clara County Board of Supervisors.
CONSOLIDATED PRECINCT NO.3, comprising state and county precincts
designated Precinct Numbers 3960 and 3968 as established by the Santa Clara
County Board of Supervisors.

CONSOLIDATED PRECINCT NO.4, comprising state and county precincts
designated Precinct Numbers 3961 and 3963 as established by the Santa Clara
County Board of Supervisors.
CONSOLIDATED PRECINCT NO.5, comprlslng state and county precincts
designated Precinct Numbers 3951, 3966 and 3969 as established by the Santa
Clara County Board of Supervisors.
3. The canvass of the returns of the votes cast and the counting of
absentee baltots cast in said City for the offices of Mayor and City Council-
men was duly held by the Registrar of Voters in accordance with the order
of the Council and in accordance with law and said Registrar of Voters has
executed a certificate certifying to the results of such canvass, which
certificate is hereto attached, marked Exhibit "A" and by this reference is
made a part hereof. Said certificate has been examined and is hereby approved
and adopted by this Council as the official canvass of said municipal election.
4. The whole number of votes cast in said City of Gilroy at said
municipal election was 2,148 (including 43 absentee votes).

5. The names of the persons voted for, the offices for which they
were voted, the number of votes received by each of said persons in each of
said persons in each of said precincts and by absentee votes, together with
the whole number of votes which they received in the entire city, are shown
on said Exhibit "A", hereto attached.

6. At said general municipal election held in the City of Gilroy
and consolidated with the Biennial School District Governing Board Member
Election on March 4, 1975, the following persons were elected to the following
offices:
NORMAN B. GOODRICH was elected Mayor of the City to hold office for
a term of four years, from and after Tuesday, March 11, 1975, and continuing
until his respective successor shall qualify.
l~ILLIAM E. "BILL" CHILDERS was elected a member of the City Council
to hold office for a term of four years, from and after Tuesday, March 11,
1975, and continuing until his respective successor shall qualify.
MARION T. LINK was elected a member of the City Council to hold office
for a term of four years~ from and after Tuesday, March 11, 1975, and con-
tinuing until his respective successor shall qualify.
DAVID V. STOUT was elected a member of the City Council to hold office
for a term of four years, from and after Tuesday, March 11, 1975, and con-
tinuing until his respective successor shall qualify.

7. The City Clerk is hereby directed to make out and deliver to
each of the persons elected a certificate of election signed by her and duly
authenticated. She shall also impose the constitutional oath of office and
have them subscribe thereto.

8. That the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, instructed to enter
this resolution in full in the minutes of this Council as a statement of the
result of said general municipal election.

Code, I did canvass the returns of the General Municipal Election held in
Gilroy, California, and consolidated with the Biennial School District
Governing Board Member Elections on March 4, 1975, and that the Statement
of Votes Cast to which this Certificate is attached is a full, true and
correct statement of the number of votes cast for each candidate at said
General Municipal Election.

Sine Die Motion was made by Councilman Stout seconded by Councilman Pat~
and carried that the meeting adjourn sine die at 8:07 p.m.
The retired Council Members vacated their seats.
The City Clerk swore in the new Council Members.
The Mayor presented a gift and Certificate of Service to retired
Council Member John Hughan. The Mayor presented a gift and Certificate of
Service to retired Council Member Anthony c. Silva and appointed him Consul-
tant without stipend regarding development of the proposed new Sewer Treat- ---
ment Plant Facilities.

Sewer Treat. Copies of the Project Report and (Draft) Environmental Impact
Proj. Report for the Domestic Sewerage Treatment Plant were distributed to all
Reports Council Members.
The Mayor explained the public address system in the Council Chambers
to the new Council Members.

At 8:16 p.m. the Mayor adjourned the meeting.
