City of Gilroy's General Revenue Sharing Funds
April 20, 1979

City Administrator Fred O. Wood stated that it was the time and
place scheduled for a Public Hearing for the purpose of obtaining written
and oral comment from the public on the proposed uses of revenue sharing
funds in the upcoming City of Gilroy Budget for Fiscal Year 1979-80 this
20th day of April, 1979, at 3:07 p.m.

City Administrator Wood stated that the revenue sharing funds
,expected to be received during the upcoming fiscal year is $220,000.00. ..
He further noted that the anticipated 1979-80 Revenue Sharing Budget is
proposed to be 247,279.00, for the expenditures of said funds as follows: ..
Salaries and Overtime of current Police Department Employees required to
administer the program - $156,629.00; Materials and Supplies - $650.00
(including required publications); and Capital Improvements (Old City Hall)
- $40,000.00 and (New City Hall) - $50,000.00.
City Administrator Wood asked if there was anyone present in the
audience wishing to speak on the Staff's recommendation for expenditures
of said funds.
cathy Jorgensen inquired of other sources for completion of the
proposed New City Hall Building.
City Administrator Wood noted that additional funds will be
available for the New City Hall Building from construction funds previously
expected to be used on the Sewer Treatment Plant and Interceptor Line
Project.
Mr. Jose Chapa, representing California Rural Legal Assistance,
requested that some of the revenue sharing proposed funds be used for
land banking rather than on Police Department salaries. City Administra-
tor Wood noted that this could be submitted to Council for consideration
prior to adopting of the 1979-80 Budget and requested that Mr. Chapa
present a written proposal for submitting same to Council at their May
7, 1979, regular Council meeting.

It was further noted that a public Hearing on the 1979-80 Final
Budget would be held on June 18, 1979.
City Administrator Wood asked if there was anyone further in the
audience wishing to speak on the matter. There was no comment from any-
one in the audience.
City Administrator Wood noted that hearing no further comment
from anyone in the audience, this would conclude Staff's recommendation
and that same would be referred to the City Council for their considera-
tion.
At 3:16 p.m., City Administrator Wood declared the public Hearing
closed\-
