Minutes 1980/04/29 '1 ~". ,-- "'~_O'__''< '.- -,-, " ,'- 4395 Apri 1 29, 1980 Gilroy, California The Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Gilroy City Council was called to order by His Honor Mayor Protempore John E. Pate at 4:04 p.m. Roll Call Present: Council Members: Brian D. Cunningham, Roberta H. Hughan, Marion T. Link, Robert E. Taylor and John E. Pate. Absent: Council Members: Sharon Albert and Norman B. Goodrich. Police Chief Pos iti on City Administrator Wood recommended that Council adjourn to an Executive Session to discuss the candidates for the Chief of Police pos Hi on. Mayor Protempore Pate adjourned to an Executive Session of the Council at 4:04 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., Mauor Protempore Pate called the meeting to order. City Administrator Wood noted that the one candidate for Police Chief which he had concentrated his efforts on has not accepted the position due to personal reasons and is unable at this time to make a recommendation the the Police Chief's appointment. Park Acq. Fees Councilman Link recommended that Council request local legislators (Egeland and Alquist) amend the enabling act restricting park acquisition fees for new construction to allow use of and/or give the City the oppor- tunity to use said funds on park maintenance. Council requested additional City financial information prior to taking any action on the matter. 4396 Adj ournment City Administrator Wood noted" that maintenance of City Parks is presently being operated by the General Fund and suggested that possibly a certain percentage of the park acquisition fees be allowed for maintenance of parks. Councilman Pate suggested that the matter be investigated in using the Park Acquisition Fees for other Capital Improvements, thereby relieving the General Fund for use in park maintenance. Discussion was had on the matter. Councilwoman Hughan suggested that said matter be agendized to allow additional study on same by Council. Council concurred that financial information is imperative for Council action on this matter. Further discussion was had on the matter. At 4:46 p.m., the Mayor Protempore adjourned the meeting.
