Minutes 1982/09/08 4788 Roll Call Grievances Res. #82-112 Planning Fees September 8, 1982 Gil roy, Ca 1 iforn i a The Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Gilroy City Council was called to order by His Honor Mayor Norman B. Goodrich at 8:01 p.m. Present: Council Members: Sharon A. Albert, Donald F. Gage, Roberta H. Hughan, Marion 1. Link, Robert E. Taylor, Pete Valdez, Jr. and Nroman B. Goodrich. The Mayor noted that the purpose of this meeting was to give adequate time to the four (4) grievance recommendations of the Per- sonnel Commission at their Auqust 23, 1982, Meeting. Personnel Director Booth further exolained the recommendations of the Personnel Commission. ...... ..... Commander McCuiston addressed the Council and further explained his and Commander Gardner's grievance. Commander Gardner addressed the Council further explaining same. The Mayor stated that the performance of the Commanders was never questioned by Council in determining the salaries of said offi- ce rs . Discussion was had by Council on the matter. Motion was made by Councilwoman Hughan seconded by Councilwoman Albert and carried by the following Roll Call vote that the Commanders receive 5% above the base pay of Sergeant ($3,045.00) retroactive to July 1, 1982: Ayes: Council Members: Albert, Gage, Hughan, Link, Taylor, Valdez and Goodrich. The Mayor assured ,the Management Group that a meeting of the Council and Management Group would be scheduled prior to setting salaries for the 1983-1984 fiscal year. ..... ....... Personnel Director Booth explained the recommendation of the Personnel Commission regarding the Grievance of the Police Secretary. Mrs. Linnie Jenkins, Police Secretary, addressed the Council and further explained her grievance. Motion was made by Councilman Gage seconded by Councilman Link and carried by the following Roll Call vote that the request of the Police Secretary be denied:' Ayes: Council Members: Gage, Link, Tay- lor, Valdez and Goodrich. Noes: Council Members: Albert and Hughan. Personnel Director Booth explained the recommendation of the Personnel Commission regarding the grievance of the Fire Marshal. Mr. Hal Lawrence, representing Fire Marshal Gorman, addressed the Council and further explained the Fire Marshal's Grievance. Motion was made-by Councilman Link seconded by Councilman Taylor and carried by.the fallowing Roll Call Vote that the request of the Fire Marshal be denied: Ayes: Council Members: Gage, Link, Taylor, Valdez and Goodrich. Noes: Council Members: Albert and Hughan. ~ ! ........ City Administrator Wood recommended, as recommended by the Personnel Commission, that Council meet with the Management Group rather than taking grievances on an individual basis. Motion was made by Councilwoman Albert seconded by Councilwoman Hughan and carried that the Council meet with the Management Group as soon as possible, noting that same would be scheduled within the month if possible. re: Motion was made by Councilwoman Hughan seconded by Councilman Gage that the reading of Resolution No. 82-112 be waived and that it be adopted approving the revised Planning Fees approved by Council motion September 7, 1982.
