Mayor Hughan led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
The City Clerk reported that the Agenda had been posted on
July 11,
1987 at 11:37 a.m.
Present: Councilmembers: Donald F. Gage, Paul V. Kloecker,
Larry Mussallem, Daniel D. Palmerlee, Pete Valdez, Jr. and
Roberta H. Hughan. (7:06 p.m.). Absent: Councilmember: Sharon
A. Albert.
The Mayor noted that Councilwoman Albert was absent from
this meeting due to a previously scheduled attendance at
educational classes out of the country. She noted that the
purpose of this meeting is in regard to Council discussion and
action regarding the proposed City of Gilroy Maintenance District
No.1; that a Public Hearing was held on July 6, 1987 at which
time public in-put had been given and that portion of the Public
Hearing closed. She further noted additional correspondence
received in regard to the proposed Maintenance District.
Councilman Gage noted that he has studied all of the
documentation and tape recordings of the July 6, 1987 Public
Hearing and is able to take part in this portion of the Hearing.
Councilman Palmerlee noted that he has studied all of the
documentation and tape recordings of the July 6, 1987 Public
Hearing and is able to take part in this portion of the Hearing.
The Mayor gave Council the following action options: Order
formation of the District and levy assessments; determine not to
proceed with the District; or table to a future date and take
action at that time.
Discussion was had by Council on the matter.
Motion was made by Councilman Gage seconded by Councilman
Kloecker and carried that these proceedings be abandoned and that
the proposal be placed upon the June 1988 Ballot as an advisory
measure.
Motion was made by Councilman Palmerlee seconded by
Councilman Kloecker and carried that Staff be directed to present
an action plan regarding the 1987-1988 Budget for review at the
July 20, 1987 regular Council Meeting.
At 7:37 p.m. the Mayor adjourned the meeting.
