NO one present to give the Invocation. The city Clerk noted that the Agenda had been posted on August 3, 1995 - 9:25 a.m. Present: Councilmembers: K. A. Mike Gilroy, Paul v. Kloecker, Charles S. Morales, suellen C. Rowlison, Pete valdez, Jr. and Donald F. Gage~ Absent: councilmember: Connie Rogers. 7:00 p.m. The Mayor introduced New Employee: Theodore Hernandez, Jr., Groundskeeper I. I Paula Gann, Executive Director of Discover Alternatives, addressed the Council and spoke on behalf of Eugene Hyman, Judge regarding Domestic Violence and requested the City to participate in their Conference. Judge Eugene Hyman arrived and addressed the council, further explaining the role of the Domestic violence Council and urged the city to participate. It was noted that the matter would be agendized september 5, 1995 for action on the city's participation. The city Attorney ~xplained the Impartial Analysis that she prepared at Council's request for the ballot measures. Motion was made by Councilman Kloecker seconded by Council- man Valdez and carried that Arguments prepared by Staff regarding charter Amendments, Measures J through 0 be approved as submitted. Motion was made by Councilman Kloecker seconded by Council- man Valdez and carried that Councilman Kloecker be authorized to author the Argument in favor of ordinance NO. 95-8 (Measure I) to be signed by those Councilmembers wishing to do so. Motion was made by councilman Kloecker seconded by Council- man Gilroy and carried that Councilman Morales be appointed as the Alternate on the South county Regional Wastewater Authority . The Mayor thanked everyone for get-well wishes during his recent illness. councilwoman Rowlison requested support for the Housing Authority's Programs. council authorized her to author a procla- mation for the Housing Authority in support of their Programs. councilwoman Rowlison requested a letter of support for the Santa Clara county Arts' Council application for funding. Motion was made by councilman Kloecker seconded by council- man Valdez and unanimously carried to add a request of the Arts' council of Santa clara county to the agenda as an emergency item that arose after preparation of the agenda. Motion was made by councilman Kloecker seconded by council- man Gilroy and carried that the Mayor send a letter of support for the Santa clara county Arts' council application for funding. councilman Morales noted the Regional Auto Theft Task Force Annual Report noting that he desires more intervention in South County on auto thefts. councilman Valdez gave an update on the cable TV Franchise Task Force noting scheduled Workshops september 11 through 14 and distributed information on same. councilman Kloecker gave an update on the California constitution Revision commission. councilman Gilroy reminded council of the 3rd Annual Golf Tournament Fund Raiser for the Youth Center on september 8 at the Golf Course - 11:30 p.m. and barbecue to follow. Discussion was had regarding the August recess of council Meetings and suggested by councilman Valdez to consider for 1996 to meet on the last Monday in August rather than the first Monday. The Mayor reminded council of the council Exhibition wheel- chair Basketball Game, August 26, 1995, 2:00 p.m., Wheeler Facility. At 8:35 p.m. the Mayor adjourned to Tuesday, september 5, 1995. August 21 and 28, 1995 Regular Council Meetings cancelled.
