Jaime Rosso shared the school district fiscal position, explaining that 8 instructional days were planned to be cut in the next school year and speaking on the school district priorities with regards to instruction days. He shared previous mitigation measures taken to balance previous year's budgets, and legality of using sales tax to support the needs of community schools. Randy Scianna spoke on his experiences selling vehicles explaining that big ticket retail sales would be curtailed in Gilroy with the proposed increase in sales tax and employment and sales tax would ultimately suffer. Tom Fischer stated that he understood that schools were in need of revenue but he opposed the proposal as school funding should be kept separate from municipal funding and the tax would be proposed to the public under false pretence.
