RESOLUTION NO. 93 - 4
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY NAMING THE MILLER AVENUE CROSSING
ADJACENT TO CHRISTMAS HILL PARK "SILVA'S CROSSING".
WHEREAS, ANTHONY C. SILVA was elected a member of the City Council for a
four year term on April 11, 1967 and re-e1ected for an additional four years on
April 13, 1971; and
\.JHEREAS, during his eight year tenure on the City Council, ANTHONY C. SILVA
actively participated on various Council Advisory Committees and was the City's
Representative on the Flood Control Advisory Committee - South Zone; the Water
Commission and the Solid Waste Committee; and
\~1EREAS, at the Council Meeting of March 11, 1975 Mayor Goodrich appointed
ANTHONY C. SIJVA "Consultant" without stipend regarding development of the proposed
new Sewer Treatment Plant Facility; and
WHEREAS, COUNCILMAN SILVA was instrumental for and the designer of the
successful culvert project completed in November of 1970 at the Miller Avenue Creek
Crossing adjacent to Christmas Hill Park.
Upon recommendation of the Mayor, and good cause appearing therefor:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY:
That the Miller Avenue Creek Crossing, shall be named SILVA'S CROSSING.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Official map of the City of Gilroy be
amended accordingly.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of February, 1993, by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: GILROY, HALE, KLOECKER, NELSON, ROWLISON, VALDEZ
and GAGE.
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
