RESOLUTION NO. 78-16
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN
THE CITY OF GILROY ON JUNE 6, 1978; REQUESTING SERVICES
OF REGISTRAR OF VOTERS; REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION OF
ELECTIONS AND SPECIFYING CERTAIN PROCEDURES FOR THE
CONSOLIDATED ELECTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A special municipal election is hereby called to be
held in the City of Gilroy, to be consolidated with the State of
California primary election to be held on Tuesday, June 6, 1978, to
submit to the qualified electors of the City the following question:
FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
CITY OF GILROY MEASURE
Within the City of Gilroy, shall the Housing Authority of
the County of Santa Clara be allowed to develop, construct
or acquire seventy five or fewer units of housing for senior
citi~ens of low income?

Section 2. The City Clerk shall give notice of the said election
in accordance with law and to perform all other acts which are required
for the holding and conducting of the said election.
Section 3. The Board of Supervisors of the County is hereby
requested to order the consolidation of the municipal election with
the primary election to be held on Tuesday, June 6, 1978, insofar as
the City is concerned, and to further provide that within the territory
affected by said order of consolidation, to wit, the City, the election
precincts. polling places and voting booths shall in every case be
the same, and there shall be only one set of election officers in each
of said precincts, and to further provide that the questions set forth
above shall be set forth in each form of ballot to be used at said
election insofar as the same is held within the City. Said Board of
Supervisors of the County is further requested to order the Registrar
of Voters of the County (i) to set forth on all sample ballots relating
to said consolidated elections, to be mailed to the qualified electors
of the City, the questions set forth above and (ii) to provide absent
voter ballots for said primary election and said special municipal
election, consolidated therewith for use by qualified electors of the
City who are entitled thereto, in the manner provided by law.
Section 4. The Registrar of Voters is hereby authorized to
canvass, or cause to be canvassed, as provided by law, the returns of
said municipal election with respect to the votes cast for and against
said questions and to certify such canvass of the votes cast to the
Council.
Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
certify to the due adoption of this resolution and to transmit a
copy hereof so certified to the Board of Supervisors of the County and
