RESOLUTION NO. 78~ 17
RESOLUTION OF THE GILROY CITY COUNCIL COMMENDING THE SERVICES OF GILROY WATER
FOREMAN RICHARD L. "CHICH" PIEDMONT UPON HIS RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, Mr. Richard L. "Chich" Piedmont has been employed by the
City of Gilroy for approximately twenty-five (25) years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Piedmont has decided to retire from the City on the
14th day of March, 1978; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD "CHICH" PIEDMONT has served as an employee in the
Water Department since August 1, 1953 including Foreman of that Department
since August 1, 1971; and
WHEREAS, during his long period of service, always performed his
duties conscientiously, honestly and with the best interests of the City of
Gilroy; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Piedmont has always had the respect of his fellow employ-
ees. In 1958 he and a former retired employee contributed their vacation to
the sick leave deficit of the late Water Superintendent, Irvine Otto. This
nonselfish act depicts the type of devotion he has for both his fellow workers
and citizens of the community.
WHEREAS, the Gilroy City Council desires to take this opportunity to
commend Mr. Piedmont's past services to the City of Gilroy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Gilroy City Council does
hereby commend and honor Mr. Piedmont for his conscientious and faithful ser-
vice during his tenure with the City of Gilroy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby extend our best wishes to
Richard L. "Chich" Piedmont and his family for continued success and happiness.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of March, 1978 by the following
vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: CHILDERS, CUNNINGHAM, HUGHAN, LINK, PATE,
STOUT and GOODRICH.
