RESOLUTION NO. 78-20
A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE ALTERATIONS OF THE
BOm~DARIES OF THE CITY OF GILROY BY THE ANNEXATION
THERETO OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED
AS "MONTEREY NORTffifEST ANNEXATION 77-8 TO THE CITY OF
GILROY"
WHEREAS, a written petition has been filed in the office of the
City Clerk of the City of Gilroy in accordance with the provisions of
the "Municipal Organization Act of 1977", asking that there be annexed
to the City of Gilroy certain uninhabited territory located in the
County of Santa Clara, State of California, hereinafter more particularly
described; and
WHEREAS, said petition has been signed and consented to by the
owners of all of the land in the territory proposed to be annexed and
said territory is contiguous to the City of Gilroy; and
WHEREAS, an application for annexation of the said premises has
been filed with the Santa Clara County Local Agency Formation Commission,
and said Commission did make its determination upon the proposed annexation,
and has approved and authorized said annexation as proposed pursuant to
section 35157 of the Government Code; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 35151 of the Government Code the
territory is to be annexed without notice and hearing~ and without an
election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
AS FOLLOWS:
Section I: Under the authority of the said IIMunicipal Organization
Act of 1977", and Section 35221 of the Government Code of the State of
California, there is hereby annexed to the City of Gilroy the uninhabited
territory particularly described as follows:
BEING a portion of Las Animas Ranchlot No. 25 as shown on
Map No. 7 accompanying the Final Report of the Referees in
the Las Animas Rancho Partition Suit, Action No. 5536 had in
the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for

the County of Santa Clara, and being more particularly described
as follows:
BEGINNING at the northeasterly corner of the Fifth Northern
Addition to the City of Gilroy as described in Ordinance Number
708 of said City adopted September 3, 1963, said point of
beginning being in the northeasterly line of the lands of the
Southern Pacific Company, and running thence along the northerly
line of said Fifth Northern Addition S.88039IW. 785.89 feet, more
or less, to an angle point in the boundary of said Addition; thence
along the northeasterly line of said Fifth Northern Addition N.220
17'W. 483.68 feet to a northeasterly corner of said Addition in
the southerly boundary of the Monterey Northwest Addition No. 65-3
to the City of Gilroy as described in Ordinance No. 758 adopted
November 3, 1965; thence along the southerly boundary of said
Annexation N.88035'E. 597.81 feet to the southeasterly corner of
said Annexation being also the southwesterly corner of Monterey
Northwest No. 65-4 Annexation to the City of Gilroy as described in
Resolution No. 988 of said City, adopted January 21, 1966; thence
along the southerly boundary of said Annexation N.88035IE. 187.35
feet, more or less, to the southeasterly corner thereof in the
northeasterly line of the Southern Pacific Company; thence along
the northeasterly line of the Southern Pacific Company S.22019'30"E.
484.80 feet, more or less, to the point of beginning. and
CONTAINING THEREIN 8 .157 acres, more or less. j,c} 1
Section II: The said territory hereby annexed to the City of
Gilroy is hereby designated as "MONTEREY NORTHWEST ANNEXATION 77...8 TO
THE CITY OF GILROY".
Section III; This annexation shall take effect on the date of the
recordation of a certified copy of the certificate of completiop with the
county recorder pursuant to Section 35354 of the Government Code.
