RESOLUTION NO. 78 - 64
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN
THE CITY OF GILROY ON NOVEMBER 7, 1978; REQllliSTING
SERVICES OF REGISTRAR OF VOTERS; REQUESTING CONSOLI-
DATION OF ELECTION AND SPECIFYING CERTAIN PROCEDURES
FOR THE CONSOLIDATED ELECTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1: A special municipal election is hereby called
to be held in the City of Gilroy, to be consolidated with the State
of California general election to be held on Tuesday, November 7,
1978, to submit to the qualified electors of the City the following
advisory question:
CITY OF GILROY MEASURE
"ADVISORY VOTE ONLY"
Shall the Council of the City of Gilroy pursue as an
exception to current City policy, with two owners of
land adjacent to the Golf Course and their agents, the
expansion of the Gilroy Golf Course? Specifically, the
adjacent two (2) property owners have offered to provide
at no cost to the City of Gilroy an additional 100 acres
of land, to expend the funds necessary to add an addi-
tional nine (9) holes to the existing Gilroy Golf Course
and to reconstruct the present nine (9) hole facility to
provide a complete 18 -hole golf course. Further these
owners propose to provide an additional $200,000.00 toward
the construction of a new Club House.
Owners are requesting that they be given the necessary
approvals to construct adjacent to the expanded Golf
Course maximum combined total of eight hundred (800)
residential units equally proportioned over an eight (8)
year period~ or more years at the discretion of the City
Council, commencing in 1980.

ofrecido a proveer 100 acres adicionales de terreno sin
costo a la ciudad de Gilroy, gastar los fondos necesarios
para anadir nueve (9) hoyos adicionales al existente
Campo de Golf de GiZroy y reconstruir la facilidad actual
de nueve (9) hoyos para proveer un Campo de Golf com-
pleto de dieciocho (18) hoyos. Adem~s estos duenos

proponen p'rpveer S200~000.00 adicionales hacia la
construccion de un nuevo Casino de Golf.
Los due~os solicitan que les den los apruebos necesarios
para construir contiguo al Campo de Golf extendido el
total m~ximo combinado de ochocientos (800) unidades ~
residenciales proporcionados igualmente durante/un periodo
de ocho anos~ 0 durante mas a~s a la discrecion del
Concejo Municipal~ comenzando en 1980.
Section 2: The City Clerk shall give notice of the said
election in accordance with law and to perform all other acts which
are required for the holding and conducting of the said election.
Section 3: The Board of Supervisors of the County is hereby
requested to order the consolidation of the municipal election with
the general election to be held on Tuesday~ November 7, 1978, inso-
far as the City is concerned, and to further provide that within the
territory affected by said order of consolidation, to wit, the City,
the election precincts, polling places and voting booths shall in
every case be the same, and there shall be only one set of election
officers in each of said precincts~ and to further provide that
the questions set forth above shall be set forth in each form of
ballot to be used at said election insofar as the same is held with-
in the City. Said Board of Supervisors of the County is further
requested to order the Registrar of Voters of the County (i) to set
forth on all sample ballots relating to said consolidated elections,
to be mailed to the qualified electors of the City, the questions
set forth above and (ii) to provide absent voter ballots for said
general election and said special municipal election, consolidated
therewith for use by qualified electors of the City who are entitled
thereto, in the manner provided by law.
Section 4: The Registrar of Voters is hereby authorized to
canvass~ or cause to be canvassed, as provided by law, the returns
of said municipal election with respect to the votes cast for and
against said questions and to certify such canvass of the votes

case to the Council.
Section 5: The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to certify to the due adoption of this resolution and to transmit a
copy hereof so certified to the Board of Supervisors of the County
and to file a copy hereof so certified with the County Clerk and
Registrar of Voters of the County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of August, 1978, by the
