RESOLUTION NO. 78-67
RESOLUTION OF THE GILROY CITY COUNCIL ENDORSING THE REGIONAL
CRIMINAL PLANNING BOARD CONCEPT AND THE EXECUTION OF A JOINT
EXERCISE OF POVJERS AGREEBENT TO CPEATE A REGIONAL CRIMINAL
JUSTICE PLA~NING BOARD COMPOSED OF FOURTEEN SANTA CLARA COUNTY
CITIES.
WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy and thirteen (13) other cities of
Santa Clara County formerly participated upon a Regional Criminal
Justice Planning Board with the County of Santa Clara; and
~mEREAS, the County of Santa Clara and, previously, the City
of San Jose have determined to operate their own separate Boards without
representation from the other cities; and
lmEPBAS, this change will preclude the remaining cities from
being able to qualify under this grant program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Gilroy City Council that
the regional boards' approach for criminal justice planning and for the
formation of a regional criminal justice planning board, composed of
the fourteen (14) cities (excluding San Jose) of Santa Clara County for
the purpose of assisting the California Council in carrying out the
provisions and purposes of the Federal Omnibus Crime Control and Safe
Street Act of 1968, is endorsed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certain Joint Exercise of Powers
agreement entitled, "Joint Exercise of PO~7ers Agreement for the Creation
of this New Regional Criminal Justice Planning Board", is hereby
authorized and directed to execute it.

fornia, this 21st day of August, 1978, by the following vote:
